Revolutionary Music

i want to suggest "war within a breath" by rage (battle of la, track 12), a song about the zapatista uprising in 1994...
dont have it on my hard drive though, maybe someone else has?

If you release a new version of Second Revolution, I found some very nice music on the Riot-Folk website. After listening to COINTELPRO, I decided to start digging through that massive list of songs. Here's the best I found, with the very best at the top:

If I Had a Rocket Launcher
Call to arms
The Hudson Valley Rent Strike
The Battle of Fort Wilson
Blood-stained Headlines
Knock on the Door
Global Justice
Easier Said Than Done
New Orleans Got Iraqed
If Georgetown Flooded

And one song by another set of artists on Riot-Folk
Invisible Hand

The start isn't so good, but I edited that out on the version I saved for iTunes.

Edit: Hey Garret, where did you get the version of COINTELPRO that you included in the mod? I couldn't seem to find that on their website.

Queensryche's "Revolution Calling." That should have been a given. I have it on my Napster account, so if anyone could tell me how to find the file, I'll send it here.

Also, Iron Maiden's anthem to Native American resistance, "Run to the Hills." Don't have that yet, but I could get it.

I love that song, Al Baker used to play it live, watched him regularly in the Thirsty Scholar in Manchester.

When we (The Dangerous Aces) get our CD recorded you're welcome to use anything. "Stand And Fight" will be on it and maybe perfect.

I'd also recommed;

Conflict - Now You've Put Your Foot In It
Crass - Big A Little a
Anti-Flag - Die For A Government
The 4-Skins - Chaos
The Addicts - Viva La Revolution
Subhumans - Work, Rest, Play, Die
Leftover Crack - Born To Die
Inner Terrestrials - War
Pressure Point - Rise Up

those are some good ones too! :goodjob:

How many megabytes is too much music for a mod you want to play? the download for second rev 2.0 is about 110 mb, and I have thought of even going to 200 mb.

The download time isn't too bad, you only have to do that once. The important thing to keep down is the loading time.

The Mighty Mighty Bostones - Another Drinking Song, The Impression That I Get
Asian Dub Foundation - Tank, Oil, Take Back the Power
Desorden Público - Combate
Panteon Rococo - Globalizado, Marco's Hall

Despite I dislike leftism (rightism as well, nevermind), ska music is so full of energy :) so when i saw this thread I decided to share some ideas.

more good songs! thanks.

Are you guys still developing the mod

I would hate to see such a good mod abandoned :(

i would love to see activity in these threads! The reason they are dead, is everyone is just busy playing it ;) what i mean is, this one is finished for now.

But i want to let you know, i will start posting like crazy here later this summer. Thats when second revolution 3.0 is coming out. if you want to discuss ideas for that, go to the main disussion thread :)

How do I submit my files? I tried to use the forum's email function to send them to GS, but I didn't see any option of attaching files.

A few good political songs you might want to search for, by Bad Religion:

Heaven is Falling said:
As I walk beneath the valley,
I shall fear no evil,
For thanks to King George and his rainbow cabinet,
Today murder is legal

God I know that it's wrong,
To kill my brother for what he hasn't done,
And as the planes blacken the sky,
It sounds like heaven is falling,
It sounds like heaven is falling,
You promised me a new day a dawning
I see a thousand points of light,
Like so many points of hatred, shame and horror

God I want to be a man,
But I don't want to die with a rifle in my hand,
And as the planes blacken the sky,
It sounds like heaven is falling,
It sounds like heaven is falling,
You promised me a new day a dawning
Well nothing here looks new to me,
But a score of mothers 'sons,
Caught 'tween the devil and the deep blue sea

Los Angeles is Burning said:
Somewhere high in the desert near a curtain of blue
St. Anne's skirts are billowing
But down here in the city of limelights
The fans of Santa Ana are withering
And you can't deny the living is easy
If you never look behind the scenery
It's Showtime for dry climes
And bedlam is dreaming of rain

When the hills of Los Angeles are burning
Palm trees are candles in the murder wind
So many lives are on the breeze
Even the stars are ill at ease
And Los Angeles is burning

This is not a test
Of the emergency broadcast system
When Malibu fires and radio towers
Conspire to dance again
And I cannot believe the Media Mecca
They're only trying to peddle reality
Catch it on Prime Time
Story at nine
The whole world is going insane

When the hills of Los Angeles are burning
Palm trees are candles in the murder wind
So many lives are on the breeze
Even the stars are ill at ease
And Los Angeles is Burning

A placard reads "the end of days"
Jacaranda boughs are bending in the haze
More a question than a curse
How could hell be any worse
The flames are stunning
The cameras running
So take warning!

When the hills of Los Angeles are burning
Palm trees are candles in the murder wind
So many lives are on the breeze
Even the stars are ill at ease
And Los Angeles is burning

Kyoto Now said:
It's a matter of prescience, no, not the science fiction kind
It's all about ignorance, and greed, and miracles for the blind
The media parading, disjointed politics
Founded on petrochemical plunder, and you're its hostages
If you stand to reason you're in the game
The rules might be elusive but our pieces are the same
And you know if one goes down we all go down as well
The balance is precarious as anyone can tell
This world's going to hell
Don't allow this mythologic hopeful monster to exact its price
Kyoto now!
We can't do nothing and think someone else will make it right

You might not think it matters now but what if you are wrong
You might not think there's any wisdom in a ****ed up punk rock song
But the way it is cannot persist for long
A brutal sun is rising on our sick horizon
It's in the way we live our lives
Exactly like the double edge of a cold familiar knife
And supremacy weighs heavy on the day
It's never really what you own but what you threw away
And how much did you pay?

Don't allow this mythologic hopeful monster to exact its price
Kyoto now!
We can't do nothing and think someone else will make it right
In your dreams you saw a steady state a bounty for eternity
Silent screams
But now the wisdom that sustains us is in full retreat
Kyoto!

Don't allow this mythologic hopeful monster isn't worth the risk
Kyoto now!
We can't have vision for the future if it can't be fixed
Alien
We need a fresh and new religion to run our lives
Hand in hand
The arid torpor of inaction will be our demise
Oh, Kyoto now!

Have you been to the desert?
Have you walked with the dead?
There's a hundred thousand children being killed for their bread
And the figures don't lie they speak of human disease
But we do what we want and we think what we please

Have you lived the experience?
Have you witnessed the plague?
People making babies sometimes just to escape
In this land of competition my compassion is gone
Yet we ignore the needy and we keep pushing on
Keep pushing on

This is just a punk rock song
Written for the people who can see something's wrong
Like ants in a colony we do our share
But there's so many other ****in' insects out there
And this is just a punk rock song

Have you visited the quagmire?
Have you swam in the ****?
The party conventions and the realpolitik
The faces always different, the rhetoric the same
But we swallow it all, and we see nothing change
Nothing has changed...

This is just a punk rock song
Written for the people who can see something's wrong
Like workers in a factory we do our share
But there's so many other ****in' robots out there
And this is just a punk rock song

10 million dollars on a losing campaign
20 million starving and writhing in pain
Big strong people unwilling to give
Small in vision and perspective
One in five kids below the poverty line
One population runnin' out of time
Runnin' out of time

This is just a punk rock song
Written for the people who can see something's wrong
Like ants in a colony we do our share
But there's so many other ****in' insects out there
And this is just a punk rock song

Figures don't lie they speak of human desease
But we do what we want and we'll think what we please
One in five kids below the poverty line
One population runnin' out of time
This is just a punk rock song
This is just a punk rock song
This is just a punk rock song

Against the Grain said:
Three thousand miles of wilderness
Overcome by the flow,
A lonely restitution of pavement,
Pomp and show,
I seek a thousand answers,
I find but one or two,
I maintain no discomfiture,
My path again renewed,
Against the grain,
Thats where Ill stay,
Swimming upstream,
I maintain against the grain

Here labelled as lunatic,
Sequestered and content,
There ignored and defeated
By the government,
Theres an oriented public whos magnetic
Force does pull,
But away from the potential of the individual,
Against the grain.....

The flow is getting stronger
With smaller increments of time and eddies
Of new ideas are increasingly hard to find,
You need all that the other has,
Your right to seize the day
But in all your acquisitions you will soon
Be swept away,
Against the grain......
Theres a common consensus
And an uncomfortable cheer,
A reverberating chorus that anyone can hear,
It sings leave your cares behind you,
Just grab tenaciously,
This lulling sense or purpose will
Destroy us rapidly,
Against the grain.....

Can we say the "F" word on these forums?

I won't risk it. But how about "____ Authority" by Pennywise?

While we'e discussing "that word," I should meantion that I was searching through the units folders in mod's assets directory. When I saw a unit labeled "F Bomb!" I broke out into a likely unhealthy fit of laughter.
