Rewarded when capturing cities

Hello Fellow Die Hards,

In Civ 2 or 3 or both, when you captured a city you would capture the Pyramids or the Great Wall. Also you could choose a technology if the AI civ were more advanced. Should this be patched in Civ 5?

I usually do my best to get the Great Library yet with out reading up on it...in Civ 5 do you get a free tech when two or more AI Civ have a technology which you currently don't while having the Great Library?

Any Input Would Be Great.

the great library gives you a free tech. you must take the free tech during the turn in which you complete it. best use is typically civil service though theology can sometimes be useful as well.

strongly oppose. warmongering should have some trade-offs. one of those was lagging behind in tech
(btw this "issue" was negated in civ5's amazing design. warmongers get moar of everything: more cities -> more pop -> more science )

for building the GL before anyone else all you get is a one free tech
