RFC:BTS will have 5 new civs!

How can you [Americans] call us ignorant when all you're doing is insulting Europe back? Surely, thats just 'lowering yourself' to our level...or I guess, you've already hit rock bottom.

I don't think any of us did it except as a joke and in humor to allieve the situation caused by the actual insult earlier... Did I miss something?

I had hoped that my apology could end this OT conversation and that we could continue talking about the greatest game on earth and its best MOD ever written

(PS: All no-USA citizens: you have to know that half the Americans always think there way is the right way, that's why there president is a war criminal. But some Americans know better. I think most of the second type will be the CIV-players we meet here and I didn't want to insult them. As I noticed, most CIV-players have an above avarage IQ (altough some think they are smarter than they realy are), so let us stop this dirttrowing)

I want Poland, Ukraine and Texas in RFC :P

Whatever we say- American rule the World. If they want they can be stupid- only strong ones can afford being weak ;)

To end OT Rhye should verify informations about new nations- Poland and Abyssinia. Again! Khmer and Ethiopia :/ :P

"Geliebt wirst du einzig, wo du schwach dich zeigen darfst, ohne Stärke zu provozieren." Theodor W. Adorno

I'm too tired for a good translation, but more or less this translates to:
"You're only loved in a place where you can show your weak side without provoking strength.";) :( :D

Btw is there a non-teleological definition of stupidity? Ars longa vita brevis est. Even if we don't want to, we are still ignorant of most things in the world. Ignoramus ignorabimus. Are we then condemned to stupidity or is just everyone except us? :crazyeye: :mischief:

But I guess the reasons why SOME Americans and Europeans can't along is that they are to similar to each other without admitting that to themselves.:p

Nice thing to see that RFC is doing well (even if I can't find too much time for it). And if Gaius Octavius is right, at least a slight reference to famous German chancellor will be made soon or this no real RFC subforum thread.
Atleast we did not forget poor (or wealthy) Poland this time.:crazyeye: :mischief:

And if Gaius Octavius is right, at least a slight reference to famous German chancellor will be made soon or this no real RFC subforum thread.

then of course followed by the mention of a few select chairmen...

Now I agree, Poland must be in RFC. UP should be blocking any alliance or agreements in Europe and they should automatically be a vassal of America after they switch from comunism...:p

Good one! Przepraszam LuKo, he's totally hit the mark there! To prawda

Stupidity is a personal achievement which transcends national boundaries.

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.
- Albert Einstein

The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt
- Bertrand Russell

Saying that Americans are stupid is certainly silly and deprecable.
But here we are talking about ignorance; I think there's nothing wrong in admitting that it's true that videos like these are more common in the US than in Europe.
The thing to discuss here is to know why it's like this.
It's certainly not because of the race. In my opinion it's all a matter of education.
Probably the private/public school division, caused by low social care in American policies, harms the general culture of a person.
Eventually, American education system makes people more specialists, and this enhances this fact further.
Bur specialization isn't actually a bad thing. Here in Italy it's the exact opposite: we are never trained to be specialists in anything before going to work; so Italians have a generally broad culture, but spend too many years in universities, and once they finish it they aren't prepared in anything in particular.

Rhye has spoken...... lol

Fascinating is this.

I agree with Rhye, education, education, education. From my on observences the main difference between education systems in Europe and the US, are that the US proritieses US histoy at the expense of learning of the outside world, this leads to a greater ignorance of the outside world, compared to in Europe were there is a greater emphasis on International history than national history, personally I'm now 18 and I've spent next to no time learning about British history, instead International.

The great exemplification of this is; when an American couple were going to Europe and they asked "do they have chicken in europe?". They were an eledrly couple, so had lots of time to learn that info. beforehand.

Still American rules the world, their education system creates the world leaders, the "movers and shakers". European nations find it harder to look inward given their small size, and dubious past (colonialism, exploitaition of other races for financial gain etc.)

Oh, coming back to the actual Mod, is there a chance the Mayan's power will give their workers the oppurtnity to chop jungles slowly, so they can grow normally, or will they just stagnate, or will another weay be found.

Finally, is there no intention of adding the Byzantines as a playable civ in a futre version, i ask since they existed for a thousand years, and would prve intersting to play as (also happen to be my fav. civ, so I'm somewhat biased.)

Looking forward to the new version! Role on BTS!

Finally, is there no intention of adding the Byzantines as a playable civ in a futre version

As has been said elsewhere, you can (i know i will) go into one of the files and toggle the on the 'Playable Civ' parameter... I know how to do that for WBS files (a scenario), but I'm not sure how it's done for a mod... Maybe someone else can enlighten Dnomal (and me)...

that is all great stuff but one problem, where you gonna put 'em?

Simple, put them in Consantinople, or perhaps add in a feature so that if and when the Roman Empire begins to have problesms the remaining terriotory splits up, or perhaps if Rome is overrun Byzantium i formed, as a new ROme in the East.

but what about the Greeks, and the Turks....don't they need space? what new ground would the Byzantines cover?

In most of my games Greece is long since dead by 476 A.D, adn there are indepent cities in Greece instead of Greek ones. As for the Turks, they would wipe out the Byzantines when they emergeof course,, but that's what 6 centuries later? Pretty good go for a civ in E.Europe/Middle East surely.

I would have them so that they would spawn under centain conditions like he says, they won't affect the turks any more than greece would, I personally would have them spawn on the date the empire split, IF greece is destroyed AND The Cities in greece are particularly unhappy.

I have a question about the Dutch, Their UU is a ship that can go through enamy territory, now their UP is that their ships can go through enamy territory. Does this mean that their UU will change, to have a different bonus?
