The work that started in September is now almost complete: a 80 MB optional pack that customizes every aspect of the game. (It requires Rhye's of Civilization updated to 2.65)

It's time to show Firaxis that in two months I have designed and made a massive modpack, that is superior to Rise and Rule in quality (not in quantity, but I think that 145 new units are enough!).

Here's the readme. From here you'll know something more about what's inside.

For the credits, please replace Steph by
- Shaun "Baddog" Fletcher if you are using Cossacks mod 1 units
- "GSC Game World Company" if you are using American Conquest, Fightback or Cossacks units
- "Paradox enternainment" and "Slitherine software" if you are using Legion or Chariot of war

Well, I'm sold! Waiting till Saturday...

Looks great:goodjob:

I was too lazy to actually do anything but look at the pictures in the readme, so is there both a random map version and an earth version?

Yes I'll include a random map BIQ, too, although the game will lose some historical realism. In the readme I mention the Statue of Liberty and the Slave Trade. They can only be built in the American continent. Obviously, this condition will be removed in the random map.

:dubious: Man! The bombast is in full swing, eh? :p

Looks good. Admittedly, I never played Rhye's of Civilization until just yesterday. I haven't gotten that far, but it seems pretty good, so this expansion pack should be interesting.

As an alpha tester who's just about to play the beta, I can tell you guys: it's gonna be good. You guys just wait. ;)

Can't wait! :D

The bombast....
I know what I say. I wouldn't have written in that way if I knew that my work was objectively inferior to others of the same category. With that Firaxis' job thing these days, it's better if I mention this.

You should take a look anyway (saturday), as it is filled with your units. I think that this is the first mod that massively uses recently created units (like your Elephants)

Rhye, you are argubly the best complete MOD maker for Civ3 of all time :)

from reading your readme i think this will be a great addition. good job Rhye for all your hard-work:goodjob:

First of all, I thought you weren't going to take the job. Second of all, it just seems rude. I consider Kal-El a friend, and I know they worked very hard on their mod.

Again, I just wrote the truth, rude or not rude.
My pack is superior in quality and inferior in quantity to DyP and RaR.

I can mention a couple of examples of quality that DyP doesn't have. And don't say that I'm rude, because you wanted that. I personally resized, added sounds and corrected the offsets of about 50 units in the pack, includin yours. While RaR has units with missing sounds, and missing civilopedia entries.
On the other hand, RaR and DyP are a huge concentration of units, techs, wonders etc. Some may like it, some may not like it. I've added enough things IMO, but for sure there will be people that will still prefer RaR because it is superior in terms of quantity.

I never said RaR is crap, though I don't agree with much of its concept, and I have no issue with Kal-El or Isak, as I've being showing respect in any case.
Period.

Seems like this job offer has brought out some of the worst in everybody (myself included). I am temporarily disillusioned with the forums....

The only effect the job offer had on me is that I advertised my work a bit more. I would have said these things in any case.

Sincerly, I hope you reconsider your decision.

Like he's said, I don't think Rhye isn't trying to put down Rise and Rule, he just saying that ROC is more polished, which it looks to be. He didn't allow the quality to take a hit for the sake of quantity.

Anyway, nice work. I don't have internet at home yet, but I'll find a way to get this sucker. :)

I too can't wait for this release, I am downloading the four parts of your Rhye's of Civilization mod now (2.65) in anticipation.

FWIW....

I am not a vetran or seasoned player with great skill or experience and I think that let me down a little with the RaR mod. Whilst I appreciated the great scope of what RaR brought to the game it overwhelmed me with choices within both the construction of city buildings and the science research that I was confused in developing a strategy to win, or at least enjoy the game.
However I do understand that the RaR mod has been a phenominal success and widely appreciated by many people, myself included. A little more polish to the missing unit sounds, civlopedia entries etc etc etc could have only made it better. A guide would have been useful as well. But all these things take both time and effort.

For you to claim
It's time to show Firaxis that in two months I have designed and made a massive modpack, that is superior to Rise and Rule in quality and that satisfies forum users' requests of quantity.

....could be considered to be not appropriate by some who read it, as the understanding of
My pack is superior in quality and inferior in quantity to DyP and RaR
is very subjective and does not "harmonise" peoples opinion but could actually work against what you want to achieve by moving the focus from the mod to that of an unhealthy debate of "mine is better than yours", I am sure that isn't what you want.

Just to end this by saying a VERY big THANK YOU to ALL you modders out there as your fantastic and creative work has brought me no end of pleasure
:goodjob:

OK I'll change a bit the first sentence, to cause no more misunderstandings

Be sure to re-download the lastest patch, as I've updated the files this morning (there was a wrong animation)

Who knows, it may work instead, like when Liam and Noel Gallagher beat up each other.

Just to put my thick head on.... Do you mean that I have to download the four parts of the 2.65 files that make up the mod AND........

The lastest patch:
Update v2.62_to_v2.65 (2MB, doesn't include previous updates)

as that is all that I see on your FIRST page of the mod or is there something that I am missing...?
I assumed that ll that I needed were the four parts of the 2.65 files...?

I think that you have made a wise choice there. Your work stands up for itself for what it is and even though it does no harm to promote and advertise it the quality of your design speaks volumes.
