I fear what these militias might try to do in the event of a major catastrophe. Take a few of those post-apocalypse/post-nuclear war stories, for instance, when you got organized militias killing people for their own twisted pleasure.

This is one of my greatest fears, and these damn gun nuts are not making it any easier.

Post-apocalyptic US would be rules by these freaks, that's for sure.

    Please explain the militia connection.

Do you only need two guys to qualify as a militia or what?

The equivalent of Midnight basketball for aging white guys:

Nice positive distraction to keep them from loitering around the local IHOP and stirring up trouble before the early bird special starts.

Well, yeah, it tracks hate groups and other right wing extremists; not necessarily those who are trying to break the law.

Yeah, like that David Horowitz guy. Sure am glad the SPLC caught on to his Neo-Confederate ways.

Men with guns and a taste for killing will be masters of the world in that scenario...!

You'd both better get working on your 'post-Armageddon' survival plans, then!

I plan to become a "Lord Humongous"-style figure in the event of a downfall of society.

It also tracks people who say not nice things about black people, and commits ad hominem repeatedly.

The Southern Poverty Law Center <SPLC> is an extremist filled hate group. What right do they have to 'track' groups? Whether the groups are legal or illegal the SPLC is not law enforcement. What if a Muslim Law Center decided to 'track' Jewish groups? Or what if a group of ex-cons decided to 'track' all the kids in the neighborhood.

Funny how people cannot see that right and left wing extremist groups are the same thing.

Both sides are filled with violent scum who use violence to win their fragile arguments...

Trust me. Many can see it.

America needs to finish it's ridiculously undemocratic two-party-system. Among many other flaws it does encourage a "them against us"-school-of-thought. A prime motive of any extremist group.

Since the Death of William Pierce the extreme hate group 'National alliance" has all but vanished. Timothy McVeigh was influenced by Pierce and his views, which lead to the Oklahoma Bombing. Now the real question is where have all the former members of this National Socialist group gone.

I am not worried about some hillbilly Clan Clowns with hunting riffles. The only worries I have are former members of the National Alliance, because they were not just a bunch of angry white guys relieving steam. Pierce had plans on how to create a new government. What we are seeing today seems to be pages taken from his playbook.

Extreme factionalism found in some parliamentary democracies isn't a good thing either. It's better to walk the middle line. Like Germany, its party system looks pretty stable and the political system is capable of producing workable post-election coalitions.

    Unlike the ours :shake:

I agree. I don't know much about Czech politics, but IMO the main reason for extreme factionalism is a very populist political culture. Parties don't care about appealing to a broad mass with different backgrounds and attitudes but rather to a very specific clientèle. By doing so they don't give a damn about balanced views but focus on being loud and sensational.
That said having a multi party system the American political landscape might be more scattered than the Italian one.
Anyway my point is: Vote for less populist and more moderate parties and you avoid strong factionalism. Voters who don't get what they deserve in the end.

But what you said about Germany would be viewed as very awkward over here ;) Though a by both parties desired coalition came to power everybody is complaining that they get nothing done. Of course the public is always complaining about that, but I believe it had been done never before in such a harsh manner in the history of the Federal Republic.

Look no further than the rantings of these dangerous criminals that support the violent overthrow of the government.

"Government is not reason; it is not eloquence; it is force! It is a dangerous servant and a terrible master."
