Is it possible to rip the videos on Utube?

Cheers

yes it is. You do have firefox right?. Then just get Video Downloader (Right Here). There should be instructions on how to use it too. Just note that they're in .flv format, so you might need to either convert them or view them with a player that can handle .flv files

Almost, though in my practice it works kinda better. Video Ook just refuses to work properly for me

Cheers, ill look into it :)

Where should the icon be?

It's not legal to upload CR-ed things on YouTube, it's OK to DL THEM!

I've heard something about this. They said when a youtube video is loaded, somewhere in the temporary internet files the video is stored. So you copy it before closing the video window and rename it.

Of course i've never tried it. It takes forever for stuff to load from youtube on my connection.

I've gotten a few things off of YouTube with the plug in to put on my Zen Vision: M, I've been rnaming them to convert their type. (EG, they end in .flv, so I change that to .avi) Which works, though quality suffers a little bit. I have not actualy put any of those on my zen yet though.

It also works for other sites too.

hmmm... ive had trouble with this... every time i download a vid it saves it as a .htm or .php file and according to the site im supposed to change it to .flv. When i do this it doesnt work. Not sure what im doing wrong...

wait, are you saving the actual page or the file? My math teacher had the same problem. Youtube video's are imbedded in the page, meaning there is no clear link to them. When you try to save them say, after you searched for a video, you find the one you want, and you right click, save as, you're saving the page, not the actual file. As for changing the extensions, if you did everything right then its a simple matter of erasing the .htm or .php extension and placing a .flv instead. Mind you, if when you click rename for the file, and you dont see the extension, adding .flv will only add to the filename, it wont change the actual extension.

You should be able to save it if you wait for the entire video to finish loading first.

You need a video player that can play FLV videos. Windows Media Player can't do that, so you'll need something like Mplayer or VLC.

I don't think VLC can play .flv, but I admit I mgiht be wrong.

THe problem with .flv is that my Zen can't read that format, so as I said above I converted some vids to .avi when I dwnled them, but only white and nerdy got onto my Zen and the others it says are not a compatible filetype but they are definately .avi! What went wrong?

I'm pretty sure it can. I seem to remember trying it before. The quality isn't great, but this is Youtube we're talking about, so you shouldn't expect good video quality anyway.
