Im surprised no one has commented this, but I have not heard anything about scenarios being included in the expansion. This is very surprising to me, because as far as I know there has never been Civilization expansion without scenarios. One reason why they might not be talking about scenarios is that they would reveal the Civs, but still I would have thought they would have at least mentioned the number of scenarios if this was the case.

I personally think its fine if there are no scenarios in this expansion. We already have had so many scenarios with the DLC. Also they will probably continue doing these smaller DLC-packs after the Rise & Fall and those will probably have scenarios.

That is a very good point. I would think that the Steam blurb would have mentioned scenarios. I will Tweet some devs and hopefully find out.

Well, Rise & Fall is, among other things, about ideologies. So, a scenario about cold war or WW2 might come to mind. But of course, such a scenario can also be published as DLC.

38 achievements might leave room for one or two scenarios I think. 18 will be for leaders and civs. I guess around ten for wonders or improvements. Some for new mechanics.

The poll that was around here showed that nobody really cared about scenarios. I'd rather the money I spent on the expansion went towards developers working on just about anything rather than scenarios.

I've barely played any since Civ3 and they are such a low priority on me that I hope they're not spending time and resources on them.

8 achievements for "do a thing while playing as this civ"
9 achievements for "win a game as this leader"
That's 17.
The other 21 are up for grabs. I would be surprised there is no scenarios with that many.

I‘m sure at least half of the wonders will get one. And stuff like „have 7 level 5 governors,“ „flip a city“. If they overdo, they could do 21 with that, but like you, I doubt it.

There could also be more "multiplayer-type" scenarios, that are barely worth mentioning... For a long time I didnt even know they exist! :p

A civil war/city-liberation scenario like Garibaldi's or Bolivar's conquests could be nice.

edit: By the way, Che Guevara was cool and inspirational. A bit too much to swallow for you Americans here, huh?! ;)

From a modder point of view, scenario are sometime requiring new methods that can be used in turn in our mods, they are not only tutorials for the player as mentioned by God of Kings , but for modders too, the scenario file of the DLC is the first thing I open if I can access it (now if you ask me between them using dev time in a scenario or preparing the DLL code for public release, I'll take the later, of course)

I know it’s a far flung dream but I’m hoping they release a full Rhye’s and Fall type scenario with historical start dates and locations. Considering the amount of people who use TSL type maps, I think it would be very popular.

Emergency and Historic Moments could produce a lot of achievements. I doubt we could deduct scenarios from their number.

I find this nuts. Part of playing Civilization to me is relive historical events in history. I loved Fantastic Worlds for Civ2 for example. The scenarios in Civ 3 are a lot of fun as well. The quality declined after that. However, I want real maps with real civs in the correct locations.

I do like scenarios, but I admit they aren't a high priority for me. I generally prefer WW2 (either European or Pacific theater), WW3, American Civil War, and sometimes WW1 scenarios.

I do want to give a shoutout the Civ3 scenarios especially the WW2 scenario (Pacific theater) for their cool naming of units. We can name units in this game as well, hint hint.

I admit scenarios don't hold as much interest for me as they did in Civ2 and Civ3. But I think one reason is the base game is better, and holds my interest more, and this is a good thing.

The Civ VI scenarios have been really high-quality, so it will be a shame not to see any in the expansion. I like the different, narrower focus they provide compared with the base game, and they're usually the first thing I play with each DLC release.

Obviously a full expansion with all its new mechanics will change that priority, but I'd still be eager to play them after a couple of games. I remember Gods & Kings' (very Ed Beach-y) Renaissance scenario as being a memorable one in Civ V.

It would be interesting if there were a scenario in which one of the achievements involve losing, just like the one involving Korea in the Samurai Invasion of Korea scenario.

would be fun. playing a game where you want to lose for a specific achievement. ...
