Rise From Medieval Kingdoms III, Thread Two

sorry, i've had a busy week...

NPC me if my orders aren.t in by the update (you know what i like doing)

Building colonies and navy and researching techs, got it. :p

I now have orders from 8 out of 12, and it has been 8 days, so I'll just stick with those 8.

Mings, Maroc, you are skipped. Terciera, you are skipped and NPC'ed. Gibraltar, in accordance to your wishes, I'll NPC you for a turn.

Update will hopefully be soon. :p

Look forwards to it.

Okay, I have most of the things ready for this update. The only thing I don't have ready: One of you has discovered more of the Americas, specifically to the North of the currently shown area.

Leeky sent me a map of it he'd been working on for a while, so now I'm finishing it- it currently lacks barbarians, rivers, and those pesky lines of latitude.

It's not going to be connected to the other map, as they are out of scale with respect to each other and don't really line up well. However, you can instantly travel between the two maps as if they were one map, and owning one map means you own the other. Also, Louisiana can expand into the south edge, as they are right on the "border" of the two maps and should probably be able to expand northwards as such.

So, I'll finish it up, and have the update ready soon.

Could I suggest perhaps transfering things onto one big world map?

I'm thinking about it... :p

That will probably have to be done eventually, unless we want 15 separate maps or so by the end. They only problem is that the world map would have to be really big or some of the resources and/or smaller nations would only show up as tiny dots, not to even mention all the cities.

Except that one was smaller than the European map we have right now, IIRC. Take that map and multiply it by a very big number and you got a big map.

Yeah, if we do a world map it would have to be very large in order to keep playing at the level of detail we have been so far.

In fact, should we make such a map, it might be worth, like, copyrighting and then using in high school history classes and the like. Seriously- big map. BIG. Think as tall as the wall of your room and much much wider.

You know, it may be worth grabbing the RfMK 1 map and doing a rough transition without removing our current maps- sort of like a world-at-a-glace map.

The "zoomed out far RFMK 1 Map" seems like a good idea. As for uber-huge world map, probably not, for the sake of those with bad internet connections.

I took the RfMK 1 map and made it about 5 times bigger. It was actually a decent size but the only problem is that it was about 100 MB in size.

Well, I'll need something smaller than 1.5 MB, or ImageShack won't allow it to be uploaded.

we could do one Europe/Asia/Africa map, one Pacific Ocean map, and one Americas map...

Maybe Asia should have its own map. Its pretty big.
EDIT: If you don't mind slightly reduced quality, BMP can reduce file size nicely.
