Rise of the American Empire

I need no fleet to protect them from you; all I would need to do is march across my southern border. It would not be a particularly difficult fight.

So you do want to harm the citizens under our protection?

Knowing your zeal to false rhetoric we will not caught off guard and remind you that aggression towards us would not earn you a alliance; we are not the American Republic with its isolation but a friend to both members of SEATO and the NYC leaded Coalition. It would do not your regime good to aid the Mexican regime by attacking its greatest critic.

On the contrary, I would like nothing more than to help the innocent Americans who are forced to live beneath the Iccanite yoke. An invasion would be an act of utmost aid, freeing your poor citizens from their tyrannical theocratic overlord.

Freedom to die under the command of the yoke of the corrupt and cruel? That is the fate we see to those living in the American Republic, in England and Mexico.

You do not strive to free the people we care over; you seek to enslave them with your false cult.

The Amok and its author Tzin be the only sources of absolute truth

Tennessee and the Keetowah have reached a peaceful split of disputed territories.

Chicago and the Washington Heirs are still in talks with the Keetowah over the best partition of the borderlands.

Bermuda and New York City have made an agreement regarding a territorial swap. New York City shall cede territories in what was formerly the Canadian province of New Brunswick (in light red on that map) in exchange for the entirety of Bermudan Hawaii and a privately agreed upon sum in economic compensation.

New York City is happy to announce the conclusion of a deal with Louisiana to purchase their Hawaiian islands for a privately negotiated sum.

It's been a few days since update.

I'd say orders lock in 76 hours, or 10 PM EST on the 16th.

Duluth-Superior would like to declare that it has become close friends with Bermuda, reducing trade barriers and constructing a Non-Aggression Pact.

It would also like to give a message to the European states; be wary of the Iccan, they are nothing but a band of cultists.

Bermuda confirms that we have made these agreements with New York City and Duluth-Superior.

Archbishop resigns after near-death experience
It was on the day of Crown Prince George's wedding, roughly an hour before he was scheduled to officiate the marriage ceremony, when Anglican Archbishop of Bermuda John Ratteray had a sudden heart attack. It was later reported that he survived without complications after having been immediately transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital by an ambulance that was on stand-by for medical emergencies on the day of the royal wedding. Yesterday Ratteray released a statement saying that he is resigning as Archbishop following a near-death experience, to instead focus solely on his physical and spiritual recovery. A new Archbishop has not yet been appointed by the Anglican Church of Bermuda.

Massive infrastructure investments announced alongside new AMAID project
Bermuda and its SEATO allies made public earlier this spring the founding of the AMAID project to increase infrastructure development throughout the region, a move that was generally perceived as a smart one among political experts seeing as how levels of infrastructure varies greatly between lesser developed nations like Florida and Georgia and more highly developed ones such as Louisiana. This week Premier Pamela Swan announced that in addition to these intragovernmental investments, her government will continue to invest in the domestic economy, commenting that over 70% of the seasonal budget will go towards infrastructure development. "The Progressive Labour government is going to make further investments in welfare, in education, healthcare and social services, throughout the nation to give the Bermudian people the greatest return on their tax dollars, and along the way we will make sure Bermuda remains one of America's most stable and most prosperous economies", said the Premier to BBC* News.

Courtesy announcement for those who don't frequent the Discord chat:

At some point, likely after a few more turns, this game will wrap up with one or more likely several Constitutional Conventions where states discuss terms for unification; these Conventions will lay the foundation for the next game.

Given the current state of affairs, I would like to state that players are free to abandon sending orders and instead send in general agendas for automation. I will of course message you if you are needed for big decisions (i.e. diplomacy). All you would need to do is send those automation guidelines and you are golden.

I presume diplomatic and economic positions will become relatively fixed here soon, which means we would be poised to set the stage for Part II, the bigger game with more developed mechanics.

The Canadian Confederation

Prior to the Plague, Canada was the world's second largest country. By population and economic output, it was the third largest country in North America. Today the various states which have taken charge of the former Canadian territories are among the continent's most powerful, and yet, still, far too much influence from American states is imposed against the Canadian people.

Today, the Free State of Quebec and Sparta are proud to announce the formation of the Canadian Confederation, in order to preserve sovereignty in the north, to protect the economic interests of the Canadian states, and to ensure a fraternal spirit between the signatory members. The Kingdom of Alberta joins as well, as a partial member.

The Confederation exists to promote and protect the welfare of the Canadian states and people, and unites all the Canadian people under one political organization. The following points are agreed upon by all signatories in order to ensure this purpose:

1. Cessation and peaceful resolution of all now or future conflict between signatory states, military, diplomatic, or otherwise

2. Establishment of a mutual economic zone between the Canadian states, with stimulus programs intended to incentivize inter-Canadian trade over Canadian-American trade

3. Open borders and freedom of transport between all Canadian states

4. Cultural exchange programs intended to increase Canadian fraternal spirit

5. A joint defense program to ensure full members mutual military protection from southern invasions

The current members are:
The Free State of Quebec
Sparta
The Kingdom of Alberta (Pts. 1-4)

lurker's comment: Well, that was unexpected.

The military government of Sparta has proven surprisingly receptive to diplomacy after the war. Though their internal politics are a closely guarded secret, it seems as though a new regime has taken over administration, with a more open foreign policy.

Sparta confirms that it has made these arrangements, understanding that it cannot survive as a state without international outreach. The Spartan military is strong, but it will inevitably fall behind without a strong economy bolstered by commercial and diplomatic relationships with other states. In a world filled with increasingly larger and more powerful alliances, it would be of the utmost hubris to assume that Sparta can stand alone.

The opportunistic invasion of Alberta by the previous invasion has tarnished Sparta's diplomatic reputation and its military pride. Joining the Confederation is the first step towards repairing this damage.

The regional governments of New Brunswick and Newfoundland express their interest in taking part in the Canadian Confederation's cultural exchange programs to maintain their close cultural ties to the Canadian states.
