Chairman Mao really ought to lay the smackdown on the paper tiger of Dutch Imperialism and their running dogs The Byzantines.

More seriously, get Mt Rushmore, Jails and Police State and have at them. The Dutc are in the way of any sort of victory you may wish to win. I would also comment that you really only need to raze one of the dutch culture cities, to prevent that particular victory. The rest ought to be kept to raise your score and make use of any benefits they may have. I would suggest that The Hague is the best candidate for razing, I would also raze Shangian and ?-Hertgenbosch as part of the initial invasion. That should be your main attack. Although an amphibious attack into Amsterdam might be a good idea, but that really depends on the strength of your navy. Your marines may very well be more useful in the main continental attack and holding any cities you may wish to keep rather than gambling them on an attack into amsterdam.

I do have a question about the UN vote. If we defy the UN resolution about adopting envirnomentalism, does that cause the complete vote on that subject to fail?

The vote would fail. If it had the numbers to pass counting your Never!!!! vote, then you get that delightful happiness penalty "the world consider's you a monster". But given the roleplay elements, you might actually want that :D.

But controling the UN votings was always a big dream of RL Mao ( just look at the effort he made to PR of China being the holder of the Chinese seat ( and veto ) in the UN ). So a hostile UN takeover would not be so far fetched.... ;)

This RPC never stops amazing me. Espionage, war, now UN...! very nice.

Historically, there have been big issues with the People's Republic of China replacing the Republic of China in the UN.

Having large enough population gives you the veto power Mao has always wanted! Great!

You sure about that? I could have sworn razing it cancels the U.N....

Way too many screenshots, the images do not load quickly enough :-/ Why don't you only use a mini version and a link to the actual screenshot....

Also, I wished you could post the screenshot of the actual stealing cost with modifiers instead of the boring resulting "tech discovered" screenshot.

And to take screenshots, you can use your keyboards printscrn key and then go to Windows Paint and use ctrl+V. That way we don't have to see the unnecessary naming of the screenshot that occupies like one quarter of the screenshot.

I'll look up your saves later to dig out mission cost modifiers and how cheap or expensive you stole those techs for.

Nevertheless, great writeup for a spy economy.

VM, all good points for a walkthrough on an espionage/settled Spy game. I think I will play a walkthrough and perhaps post it into the Great Spy article with screenshots appropriate to the article. As you said, seeing costs of the mission would help more for the article than the way this game is posted.

This is a RPC though, which explains why I post the games the way I do. THe feel and flavor of the RPC is more important here, and there are other issues involved. More important to emphasize what the Communist Chinese leader is actually stealign rather then the technical aspect.

Thnaks for the feedback. I think I'll post a Ghengis Khan walkthrough, getting to space with alot of stolen techs!

I just finished up a game inspired by this thread. Emperor, marathon, hemispheres. it ended up being my best emperor game yet, and my highest scoring game ever. 130,000. Got a conquest win with Liz. Built the 3 great spy producing wonders in my capital, and while I teched the majority of my techs, stealing definitely let me stay ahead of the AI. I can't remember all the techs is stole, but they included mathematics, metal casting, engineering, steel, and radio.

Only my capital had all the spy buildings, the rest only had jails and courthouses, didn't run nationhood and didn't build a single castle. But at the end i was pulling 700 spy points without increasing the spy slider. Let me have a tech lead in the latter part of the game, the only tech the AI knew that I didn't was fission, and i could have stolen it if i wanted it. It seems like the great spies aren't even that important. Just building all the spy buildings in all your towns and focusing them on 1 civ instead of evenly would let you steal plenty of techs.

I could see this being great for a space race too, as you could use your espionage to destroy their space ship parts.

Yep, I have had several games like that. Like all great people, the early benefit's outweigh the later ones.

Chairman Mao's Revised Plan: Part X

well I explained earlier I played a short segment and here it is.

Any questions? Seriously, Willem is too much of a threat. We went through alot of work to get Mao to this point, I'm not about to have the Dutch steal this game.

    Border city #1

Here we surround the Haugue with large stacks of CR III tanks, courtesy of 4 settled GGs from those Khmerian defensive wars plus West Point. THe city was burned to the ground

Once again Deft has fallen, this time for us and for good

We did lose one city but very quickly reclaimed it, destroying ALOT of Dutch Cavalry and Artillery

Here we took another border Dutch city

As you can See Willem's power number took a bad beating.

    And the current victory screen.

Culture is not an issue now, Diplomatic still needs some watching.

We also got a nice random event, giving us a free Great Spy. Right now he is running arround as the ultimate scout until I figiure what to do with him. Most likely he will be used in a GA with teh free GE from Fussion.

And we bring Will's sorry arse to the bargaining table.

I will play the next segment tonight, let's see if I can finish it but I would not be surprised to see it go another day.

MS, what an incredible game this is. I think your options are clear though, either destroy the UN (so very Mao like) or just control it and give yourself enough votes to vote yourself in as Emperor of the World. (Or, more likely due to the RPC rules, stall any vote that would hurt you.) I'm sure you have the strength to take it easily.

That ship in the second screen shot is pretty funny sitting in the fort. It looks like a ship has run aground.

Finished the game and assembling the Post. Pure Maosim, all the way through the end. I think you will enjoy it, expecially the small, finer aspects of the true Maoist game!!!

Chairman Mao's Revised Plan: The Finale

What a plan, and what a game. Mao showed the world the true power and glory of his magnificent plan. Atheism, Espionage, The Power of the STate, and The Power of the Chinese People!!!! All four conditions were met for victory. We managed enough population to block any UN victory, and we had tremndous production power to launch us into Space, with several space techs stolen from the unsuspecting foreign capitlists!!!

    But the Story,

We immediately declared wa ron Justinian. He is not in state property and I do not want to unload spies all game switching him (it's expensive and has a higher failure rate) plus I want to solidify the UN voting block.

Nothing special here, we just used overwhelming Chinese forces to trash his lands, The biggest difficulty was we actually had to build a small navy to capture the offshore island city.

Quick as that Justinian is not more. Also Charlemange decided to open borders, my guess to make spy distribution easier.

And you can see we are doen to 3 AIs, notice how Mao is none too popular here.

You can see everyone is in state property, which lasted throughout the end of the game.

Here we stole Fission from Saladin.

I didn't show the eps, you all get the idea at this point.

And just for the hell of it

    Then something really unexpected happened

My goodness, a Great Prophet from Sury's capital (had alot of wonders and we got 2 Great Peaople from it). Now we still had a Great Spy and could launch a Golden Age. INstead Mao too St. Paul out to the fields, slit his throat and buried him. We simply disbanded the Prophet. Now is that a MAoian thing to do or what!!!!

And we stole this from Charlemange

Tht was the last tech we stole, although we could have stolen Mass Media I figured Mao would be happy prohibiting Television from the Chinese people. Similar to his distain of the internet!!!

After teching Fusion and the free GE,

We started teh Golden Age, in which we teched off medicine and Genetics.

I should mention here that I built beakers ALOT using those highly productive cities that were not building Spaceship parts. This cut tech time roughly in half, so sort of a small "Hammer Economy" at the end.

We did get this UN vote (Willem was still in charge of it)

We defied the vote, but so dod Saladin. There was not -5 diplo penalty.

    Very soon after

And thei victory conditions at the launch

Dammned, Will caught up some in that third culture city. Still not enough though.

    The final ep screen

    73000 eps versus Charlemnge!!!!!!!!!!

    And finally,

The Glorious Chinese workers have reached alpha centuri!!!!!

    A view of the scores.

Note how we were pretty low a good part of the game but dominated later. SCORE is not a good representation of how you are doing.

    And the Power Numbers

Charlemange was certainly spamming military at the end. I wonder if he was planning to actually attack us. I know Will "We Have Enough on OUr Hands" at the end, but I figured he'll be waiting forever to attack, just like Sury.

And Finally, the Honorable Chairman Mao

Thanks to all for following this RPC, it certainly was fun and interesting from beginning to end!!!!

Also if noone noticed I opened up a new poll for my RPCs so please stop by it and vote or make a comment on your favorite game!!!!

I will post my post-game summery in a bit.

Well were to begin the writeup on this game? rather than separating reasons we won/lost separate from RPC restrictions, let's look at each of Mao'sTenets

    1) State Property: What a powerful Civic. Pure raw production power, massive cost saving for such a large empire, and extra food. What more can we ask for!!!! Sure we cannot get that extra trade route, nor corporations but who needs them. It is such a good civic that the final Ais self adopted the civic, no need for forcing them into a switch.

    2) Atheism: Wow, no religious civics, even Free Religion was ignored. We never teched monotheism/theology/diviine right and never missed it. But the icing on the cake, disbanding the late game Great Prophet, now that was truely Maoist!!

    3) Poplulation: Well the expansive trait combined with mid-game warfare against Sury and later Will were key here. Especially knocking Will right out of the UN diplomatic victory vote as well as the cultural win.

    4) Espionage: What more can I say. The Great Wall, settled GSpys and Scotland yard started as a small snowball which became an avalanche. Without having to say more, here are the techs we ended up stealing

    Horseback Riding
    Meditation
    Polytheism
    calender
    Compass
    Optics
    Music
    Banking
    Military Tradition
    Military Science
    Steel
    Physics
    Steam Power
    Corporation
    Military Science
    Railroad
    Assembly Line
    Radio
    Biology
    Rocketry
    Fission
    Fascism
    Ecology

All done with only one early wonder (we did steal alot later), a spy specialist, and the national epic.

I hope everyone enjoyed the RPC.

Next game will be a crusades style game featuring Charlemange who must convert the entire world to his religion, preferably peacefully or by the sword if necessary.

Absolutely the best yet. And I think it is one of the most well rounded games ever posted on the forums except for the lack of religious civics and such). Good tech pace, lots of military, well played diplomacy, cultural victory a large factor( even if it was the AI, it changed how the game was played. Some nice backstabbing, space racing and of course a great amount of espionage. I think I even detected a little bit of an economy :D, LOL, most un-MadScientist-like that it is.
A remarkeably well played game. Especially with the restrictions imposed. very entertaining as well. The only thing missing was intercontinental war. It would have been fun to watch Mao slug it out with Charly. Too bad about the Alpha Centauri problem Mad forgot to mention that when the spaceship landed they found a McDonalds and 376 Srabucks there already....the whole chinese civilization became capitalist overnight and now Mao is doing telemarketing for a vitamin company.

Awesome game Mad...i look forward to the next one....I have not given up hope on you building an economy. I would love to see an RPG where a victory condition is amassing 100k gold.
