Well 2.71 came out 7/15/2009, and the earliest post in the AND forum only goes back to December 2009, and that was talking about version 1.50. So the compatible version is something before 1.50, and I'm pretty sure it is impossible to find on the internet.

You can get the 1.6x AND @ http://sourceforge.net/projects/anewdawn/files/

And iirc both the 1.5x and 1.6x worked with 2.71 and 2.8 respectively. Both those versions had Fun things in them that the 1.74 and 1.75 had removed.

I may have to ask Afforess to add the 1.5x series if he still has them. Which I'm pretty sure he still does.

JosEPh :)

Version 1.50 is available on his sourceforge, but I believe it was 1.41 or earlier that was compatible with 2.71

why is this better than the later releases?

also, which version of a new dawn you think is the best version?

thnx.

Not 2.91 for sure. It has annoying bug with long war, when enemy begins to ask all the world even if capitulate button is active. And very bad AI for workers. I didn't test 2.92, maybe it was fixed. But I don't think so...

i've been playing rom 2.92 and new dawn 1.74H for almost 2 years now, week long multiplayer games from ancient into modern ages with no issues. I consider that version combo most stable, tried newer ones (new dawn 1.75 as we all as c2c, but they are very multiplayer unfriendly, oos all over)

Mostly because Afforess considered it to be the most fun (2.71). It was his personal favorite.

That's good to hear for the Multiplayer crowd. Thanks! :)

Great news.

Can you tell me what options you are running to get this great mp result? Or is it working nomatter what options you run? Revolutions too?

all of my settings for mp games

map size is the most important thing for avoiding oos. It's a tiny bit smaller than standard with enough ocean to give 6 continents 14-17 cities on each. That is more than enough for managing, once u control 3 continents , u own ~60 cities which is a lot.
We haven't played into the future, pretty much all of our games end in modern times, but they do last ~a week. During intense wars in modern times with many units, sometimes get an oos once per 1 or 2 hours, but reloading takes 3 mins so it's completely bearable.

and if anyone wants to ping me for an mp game, do ping:) I always on lookout for mp players, only have 1 extra player (wife's busy studying; i used to make her and her friend team up for a 2 girl team vs me vs the other player action, blast...)

and i did install 2.71 to see what fun things were remove in later versions, will add them back for my own enjoyment.

2.92 rom + and 1.74 does have it's plethora of badly designed stuff (insane unbalanced world projects!!), so that's on my list to fix as well. I didn't expect afforess to come back to and and do modding again:) c2c has lots of content, but at some point quantity is beyond reasonable, i'd rather have polish; the more u add the harder it is to polish. It took us 2-3 years of playing to uncover all unbalanced stuff. Realism mod has nice balance, but it feels sterile after crazy stuff available in rom+and.

I'm starting to have the same feeling for C2C right now. Just too many changes. And while Koshling is constantly improving the AI, others like hydro (sorry buddy) just keep changing the system. You just don't have enough time between versions to get the bugs and balance worked out.

If you polish 2.71 up maybe you could post a link so old ppl like me, who can't mod spit, could get it? ;)

JosEPh :)

Yeah would really love a polished up version of 2.71 mate. I really miss the Advanced Diplomacy and no future era in 2.71. What kind of features of the later versions are you adding in 2.71 mate?

How much work is being the "No Future Era"? I really would love to have that in 2.71. And if its coded in some DLL file then I am not able. Can anyone tell me how complex this feature is? I am hoping its just research being hidden???

Yes 1.4 and 1.41 work with 2.71. I have 1.4 but not 1.41. It was a patch for 1.4 iirc wasn't it?

What was 1.41 size? About 71 Mb or smaller?
