FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA - The Ron Paul 2008 presidential campaign raised $5,080,000 during the third quarter of 2007. That is an impressive 114 percent increase from the second quarter.

Cash on hand for the Paul campaign is $5,300,000.

"Dr. Paul's message is freedom, peace and prosperity," said Paul campaign chairman Kent Snyder. "As these fundraising numbers show, more Americans each day are embracing Dr. Paul's message."

Ron Paul's 114 percent increase is in stark contrast to the decrease suffered by Mitt Romney, Rudy Giuliani, and John McCain. Romney's fundraising was down 29 percent. Giuliani was down 40 percent. McCain was down 55 percent.

Comparatively, Paul's Q3 figure is five times what was raised in the same period by GOP rival former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, who is often given a better chance at the party nomination by political pundits. It puts Paul in the same fundraising neighborhood as top-tier Republican candidates like Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

This is more than Mitt Romney raised, if you discount his own "donation" to himself of millions.

Huckabee.... a miserable $1M, and only has $600,000 cash on hand.

McCain is reporting they will raise a little over $5 million. Chances are, he will fail in reaching this goal.

Have a nice day.

:)

He's still bat <snip> insane.

How is he "insane"? Granted, he believes in one too many conspiracy theories, but most of his political beliefs are sound enough for me. I would have to say I agree with 90% of what he says.

What's up with Ron Paul and the internets? I mean seriously.... It's like you are groupies. Thread after thread about someone who doesn't stand a chance of winning.

Probably because it's so refreshing to hear a third voice. Too bad a libertarian won't run (and be noticed doing it), sounds like Paul is too uptight to be the real deal.

He's not insane, but he's not the president we need today.

He's the president we needed in 1992.

This is a very good sign. It takes a lot more than money to win an election, but money is where it all begins. The message is starting to get out there to people who are looking for an alternative. I hope that the ball continues to roll in our favor.

Agreed, maybe he can get the ball rolling. Plus, he hasn't polled that bad. It is within the realm of possibility that he might poll very well. However, one thing to all considering voting for him, you must be a registered Republican to vote for him in the primary.

Perhaps, but it might be better advised simply to know your state's election laws and procedures.

That, I am.

For someone who "doesn't stand a chance of winning," that is an impressive accumulation of cash, much more than one would expect. That is what makes it newsworthy.

Ron Paul will not win a single primary.

There. I said it.

Those folks giving him money may as well be pulling the plunger when they throw their hard earned cash into that toilet. Cause in the long run, it aint going to matter.

I don't know what's sadder, the fact that people think that the amount of money a candidate raises matters, or the fact that it actually matters...

Well, I think that it does matter to a large extent; but only to those candidates that poll high enough to have an actual chance at being elected.

Having enough money to put lipstick on the pig just gives you a slightly better looking pig....if you catch my meaning.
