RSG5 Emperor 20K

Hooray for the SGL! Now all we need to do is get to the modern age so we can use it.

We have nothing worth using a scientific GL on now, and no real need for a military GL. (Hurrying the small wonders along the way to the modern age won't speed up subsequent builds, as there won't be any for a while.) Going to war is optional, though.

After we reach the modern age and use our SGL, it might be nice to generate a military leader for Apollo.

CKS, I was just logging in to post the same thing -- the SGL's value is in rushing a MA wonder. We might want a small war against Sumeria before then, to secure their supplies of luxuries. Even then, the SGL is better held in reserve.

I guess I'm up. I'm not going to be able to play much though in the coming days, family intown etc, so if anyone is rushing to play, I can take it after.
Assuming I'm up, I don't relish another war with Sumeria unless we have a big tech lead. Our modest gains on my last set were lost anyway when the captureed luxury towns culture flipped! I'd also like to see factories in our productive cities and a large troop build up.

MAybe we'll get computers as our free moderna age tech and can rush SETI or Internet. Are we in a prebuild now or pushing troops in our 20K city.

In Pyongyang, you want to build Wall Street (as soon as we have 5 stock exchanges). Then an army so we can build the Pentagon. If we get espionage or sanitation, build the intelligence agency or battlefield medicine. Otherwise, whatever you like until we get to the modern age.

OK finished my 10.

We have 6927 culture in Pyongyang, with 87 culture/turn which reaches 10K in 35 turns, not including old culture buildings reaching their doubling or future wonders.
We'll have tanks in 2 turns and will have 2 empty armies, so if anyone wants to war on Sumeria again, we'll be in a stronger position. We have abundant workers and are fully developed. I've been joining some cities to max population, but are spending 0 unit costs. We ahve an unused scientific leader in Pyongyang set to build a modern wonder when available.

Sounds good. I should be able to finish my LK147 turns tonight and start this tomorrow.

Turn 0: MM, switch Pyongyang to a police station.
Turn 1: Pyongyang now gets 110 spt, giving a little cushion in case of pollution. Start a marketplace.
Turn 2: Build some tanks. Start Pyongyang on a palace. Flight in 4.
Turn 6: We got computers for free. Miniaturization is due in 6, as is our prebuild. We'll build The Internet and then rush SETI.
Playing a couple of extra turns, through SETI. We got hit by pollution twice, but the extra shields payed off and we didn't lose a turn.
Turn 12: The Internet (and Research Lab) are built. Rush SETI. I set research to genetics, but we probably should switch to fission first and build the UN before the genetics wonders.

I'd research fission, genetics, rocketry, spaceflight. If nobody has learned them for us, then we should pick up espionage and sanitation. We should have plenty of time to make it to integrated defense so we can build SDI, too.

I didn't do any warring. We have a nice stack of tanks southeast of Isin if anyone wants to go to war. I made no deals with Sumeria, just in case. (We are now average vs them.) Otherwise we can just breeze along. I think the AI are far enough behind in tech that we don't have to worry about anything.

I rushed some factories, built units in core cities, and mostly ignored the rest of the empire, after hiring some scientists.

Edit: I had started some libraries for border expansion; we can change these now since we have the Internet.

Pre-turn: Things look good.
1390 - SETI completes. Up next: Palace as prebuild.
1395 - Move newly-completed troops
1400 - More fiddling with units... and on the IBT, about half our cities get culture expansions.
1405 - Send workers to improve our new lands...
1410 - Drop science to 30%, and we still get Genetics > Fission
1415 - Science to 80%; Fission in 6.
1420 - zzz...
1425 - All is quiet. We could do another short war on Sumeria now -- that would let us take Gems and Ivory with a minimum of fuss. I'll leave that up to the next player though.

I've got the save.
I'll probably go straight for the 20k and maybe replay it at my leisure for the tank war.

If we don't go to war, things go pretty quickly. You could play 20 turns if you like.

I had a brain glitch. for some reason I thought the goal was at 10K, not 20K. I'm wiping the floor with Sumeria. Tanks vs Enkidu is fun. Working on UN now.
More when I finish my 10.

OK, I don't know if we'll make 20K before the game ends, but we're going down swinging.
Not much new in the culture front. We have cure for cancer and UN in 1. Longevity next.
The war with Sumeria is going well. I had a breakthrough of cavs into the homeland once through a gap and lost a couple of slaves left unprotected but overall doing well. The peninsula to the south is ours, the Sumerian core is exposed. I could have reduced losses but wanted speed, so the artillary are a little behind. We have gems, and ivory. I swear Universal Suffrage doesn't do anything. Happiness in some of the large farm cities is a problem.
Here's the abbreviated turn log:
Spoiler :
Turn 276
Wonsan MI>Tank
August flak>bomber
Chonju destroyer>tank
Sariwan MI>tank
Deal on wines expires:Trade Russia Dyes+rubber for wine. Trade Refining and steel for Espionage and Sanitation.
Trade Celts Metalurgy for 50 gold.
Take Isin. Take Istanbul, raze it- MI retreats to Enkidu!

Turn 277
Settle near old Istanbul, claim gems. Control breakthrough.

Turn 278
Complete cure for cancer, start Longevity
Take Iznik, raze it.

IBT Promotions as Sumeria throws cavs and infantry against tanks and MI. No losses.

Turn 279
Fission>Ecology in 5. Switch to UN.
Super rifle beats tank in Sinop with no losses. Tank army kills some podunk Sumerian town.
Trying for leader, lose eMI to cav! Take and raze Umma. Take and raze Zabalam. Build New Kumkang. Build New Ojinbu and claim Ivory.
we lose furs. trade Hittites silk and dyes and atomic theory for wine and furs.

Turn 280
Take Sinop. Kill a few infantry crowding new cities.
Settle Seoul2, startsomber. Take Sinop, raze. Buid Pyongyang 2

Turn 281
Sumeria snags some workers.
Another stupid MI dies attacking a cav in the open!
Take Akshak. IBT cav sneaks in and takes it back.

Turn 282
Take and raze agade

IBT
Sumeria offers peace

Turn 284 (missed a turn in there)
Synthetic fibers in 6
Kill 3 cavs that snuck in gap. Tank produces MGL>army
Take and raze Erech, losing 2 tanks to stubborn infantry unit. Take and raze. Kuth with no losses.

Turn 285
Move troops around

Turn 286
Take and raze Sumer

Turn 287
Take and raze Kisura. Take and raze Ur agaisnt steep resitance. Several tank retreats and 3 losses.

I guess we keep pushing forward getting resources and wrecking Sumeria's warring capacity or till we're sick of it. Kusa and KAtalla offer a mountain barrier if we want to conquer down to them. Once we have peace, we should build the Intelligence Agency somewhere for monitorring and sabotaging spaeship parts in the AI on the other continent. It's going to be a long time till we hit 20K and we'll be safe from AI invasion and diplomatic victory, but could be beat by a launch by the Hittities. We can slow the research pace and accumulate some cash for espionage as we've got all the techs for great wonders done. Maybe build some hospitals for Battlefield medicine later.

I've got it.

We won't have any trouble keeping the other tribes from winning while we wait for 20k.

Universal Suffrage turns ONE unhappy-because-of-the-war citizen content in each city. Unless your cities are tiny, you'll never notice. It is only worth building for the 4 cpt.

Turn 0:
Rush some settlers, advance with some units. MM for beakers. Draft in large-but-starving cities. We are currently researching synthetic fibers. We need to research techs toward small wonders, but we appear to be several turns in, so I won't switch. The primary goal of the war now should be leaders to rush small wonders; I'll try to keep this in mind. Our culture is about the same as Sumeria's, so we don't have to raze cities.

IBT: Build UN, decline the vote. No attacks.

Turn 1:
Build cities. Take Kish, Lagash. Get an MGL, rush intelligence agency. Take Der, Bad-Tibira, get 2nd MGL. Draft and disband to rush 5 hospitals so we can rush battlefield medicine next. Take Kuara.
IBT: Build Intelligence Agency, 5 hospitals.

Turn 2:
Rush Battlefield Medicine. Take Kua.
IBT: infantry attacks tank, which retreats. cav appears. A few riots. Learn synthetic fibers, start rocketry. (Can't build MA since we don't know about aluminum yet.)

Turn 3:
Hire a CE in Pyongyang - Longevity in 9, but we lose 1 food.
Take Kutallu, Nagsu,Tutub.
IBT: zzz

Turn 4:
Take Anshan, Apisala.
IBT: Isin flips, Hittites learn flight.

Turn 5: Retake Isin, get an MGL, save for Apollo. Take Dabrum.
IBT: zzz

Turn 6: Land near Susa.
IBT: Booted across the continent.

Turn 7: zzz
IBT: Bad-Tibira flips, get hit with lots of pollution, including Pyongyang.

Turn 8: Clean up pollution. Have a misclick and the turn ends before taking Bad-Tibira.
IBT: zzz

Turn 9: Retake Bad-Tibira. Land at Susa.
IBT: zzz

Turn 10: Take Susa. Sumeria is no more. MM for scientists.

Many places are building random things. Adjust as you desire. We need to build 5 SAM Missile Batteries so we can build SDI if we get that far, which we probably will. We might want some pollution reducers.

Pyongyang is 2 turns from Longevity. It is currently running 2 civil engineers and starving. Check next turn to see if we can put one of them back to work without losing a turn, but remember to put both of them back to work after we finish Longevity or if we get hit by pollution again and lose a turn on Longevity.

We are 4 turns from Space Flight. I suggest finishing Longevity and building a mass transit system. When we learn space flight, we can use our leader to rush Apollo.
