Rugby in America

It seems that Rugby has been added to the list of games at the next pan american games taking place in My mothers home town.

Are there any other competitive teams (internationally) besides Argentina?

I hope they don't roll over the north American teams.

I've never even seen the American or Mexican teams play I wonder if any other American CFCers have seen there teams games broadcast ( Other than Argentina) ?

I would imagine argentina will win - very comfortably. They are ranked 4th in the world. Canada is quite good (relatively) though.

The Americas and the Caribbean IIRC.

I would be really glad if the U.S. beat Argentina thou, I am probably gonna go to the games with my Argentinan cousins.

The US has a decent, not good enough to compete with the giants of the game, but a decent team. Canada does too. Uruguay is okay as well. I can't imagine any other teams other than 15 random guys from each country.

Mexico has team that was just created.

... there is no national leauge but 6 of the *autonomous Unis have teams and play each other


* Universitys are run like in the U.K. - so what I mean by autonomous is 6 of the big schools have them.

Even thou there is only one player from Mexico playing in the U.S. there are a lot of schools that prefer American Football to Rugby and have a active american football league .... maybe this will change a little.


I belive the team was just created by senior players who were the "all stars".

My knowledge of rugby in the US is limited to the ridiculously dominant Cal rugby team.

My mate is a huge Rugby fan and when we were over there he searched EVERYWHERE for a USA National Team Rugby Shirt. Whenever he asked someone he just got the 1000 yard stare as it the request did not compute.

Would be nice to see Rugby take off more over the pond, so to speak, I mean they're taking part in the World Cup are they not? that always tends to nudge up interest somewhat
