Don't mind me. I'm just figuring out how to upload images from ImageShack.

If this works...it's a Monarch level, [civ3] v.1.29, Continents, Chinese, random everything else starting screenshot of a game I just finished...my best Monarch level game so far (thanks to the info I learned on CFC).

I have a couple of questions about the two images I just posted above:

On the ImageShack "My Images" page there are two main categories of coding (Embedded & Thumbnail) and each of these is further divided into three types/purposes:

- Embedded a)Forum, b)Sites, and c)Friends ;
- Thumbnail a)Forum, b)Sites, and c)Direct.

I'm not sure which I used for each of the two above images but, obviously, I didn't use the same type. Is the first image an Embedded Forum code and the second Embedded Site code (I don't want to upload a bunch of images just to figure what all 6 different codes look like)? Generally, is there a particular type which is preferred by the moderators/members? Thanks.

Oh, and I have another question relating to what was previously said in this thread....

...if we were to attach a .sav file to a posting, would we simply upload straight from our pc or is there a hosting service (like ImageShack) we should use?

When you go into the Reply screen (not the Quick Reply), look down below the box where you type your message. There is a button labeled "Manage Attachments"...click on that and browse to the .sav file on your computer and then click "upload". If you then use "Preview Post", you won't see it, but it shows up when you submit your reply.

BTW, be sure to upload manual saves (Ctl-S)...not the autosaves. Manual saves are MUCH smaller (about 50 to 300k), whereas autosaves can be too large to even load.

Edit: Exactly like that. You're answering your own questions faster than I can type. :p Good for you!!! :goodjob:

How did my response to your post get above yours? Weird. I must be in an earlier time zone.
I think we're both just posting at the same time. :D

Rurik,

you could have started a new thread instead of "stealing" this one. ;)

I have a comment to your start location. I would have placed the first city on the spot 4000 BC. It would have saved you one turn, an aqueduct and you would have gotten one more hills with river bonus.

This game ended with a Domination Victory in 1625AD using a combination of oscillating DOWs (Declaration of Wars)...(sometimes without much direct fighting on my part), limited objective "spearman rush-ing", and Rider pillaging to disrupt AI commerce, growth, and production.

Everything I learned here at CFC "clicked" with me during this game and I was able to put various concepts together seamlessly into an overall plan that both was proactive and "survived contact with the enemy". Thanks everyone.

Summary:

Wars- [Note: duration of war followed by AI casualties in shield cost compared to my casualties]
2900BC-1950BC (40:0);
1750BC-950BC (130:20);
975BC-470BC (40:0);
590BC-470BC (100:50);
250BC-560AD (650:380) civ destroyed;
170AD-640AD (1,140:540);
300AD-770AD (380:320) civ destroyed (after I took heavy swordsmen losses against it's last darn 1 pop town);
660AD-800AD (690:130);
1000AD-1130AD (500:240) civ destroyed;
1140AD-1375AD (3,880:3,210) civ destroyed;
1425AD-1585AD (5,230:4,830) civ destroyed;
1620AD-1625AD (140:0) war interupted by victory

Total Casualty Comparison- 12,920 shield value inflicted : 9,720 taken

Switched to Monarchy gov't: 490AD-560AD

Ancient Age: 4000BC-640AD;
Middle Age: 640AD-1595AD

Golden Age (GA): 1010AD-1210AD

Sorry about "stealing". I thought we shared here since I see threads go off on a tangent all the time. My tangent is to give the thread originator a monarch level game comparison while also giving examples of posting ideas...I saw my posts as being relevant for the originator of this thread especially since we share the same questions and are learning the same things.

True, but I was planning to palace jump and wanted to put a permanent city next to the river while getting the extra commerce for my temp first palace city. But, I did set my industrious worker to start the road during 4000BC so it would be ready that much sooner.

The weird thing, though...at the end of the game not one of my cities were in the top 5!

Perhaps more weird than that, is the fact that only one of those cities deserves to be listed. :old:

:mischief:

My reply to the post above didn't come with the rest, maybe because I was editing it. It is still in the mother thread. :)

I see that often in games DG or better, if won by domination. In my case it is because I do not make hospitals and have little culture or wonders.

I don't know what "DG" means. Anyway, here's a thumbnail of Paris which I thought would have been a Top 5 city with it's 1602.10000, 23 per turn culture, The Pyramids, Copernicus' Observatory, Leonardo's Workshop, and Heroic Epic in my Forbidden Palace city.
