[RD] Russia Invades Ukraine--Act 3: Ride of the Valkyries

It sounds very likely to you that Russia would want to put its income from its gas on the line?
Army regiments are known to guard strategic assets like gas-lines, but not at all known for destroying or otherwise tampering with the quality of their own.
I don't have any influence on what either Russia or Ukraine does in this war. Your post seemed like it was edited to be pro Russia and create the image that Ukraine was attacking the EU by cutting off Russian gas. As it turns out, there was, in the same article, a Ukrainian side that, if true, said they cut the gas off because the infrastructure was at risk from Russian troops.

Which is why I asked you if you find it very likely that Russia would want to jeopardize its income from gas, and the last hold they have on the Eu.
There's the simple phrase: follow the money. Usually the party which stands to gain from something, does it, not the one which stands to lose*

To be perfectly clear, literally the last one to do anything to the gas would be Russia, since it is its means of any control on the Eu and a serious source of cash. It's rather ridiculous to think for a moment that Russia itself would try to damage that, or that some ordinary soldiers didn't get the right orders and tampered. . .
I mean, at times I think @r16 does well to not express his true emotions for this show :)

*To be more austere about it: while in theory this could be a move by Russia, I think it is not very likely (very conspiratorial/25dchess and other bizarre convolutions required).

There is more than one scenario regarding Russian gas and its infrastructure in Ukraine. Russia has shown that it it is more than willing to destroy infrastructure useful to the Ukraine now or in the future, including roads, bridges, housing, airports, industry, etc. Cutting off gas to Europe now, by any means, may hurt Russian cash flow now, but if it pisses off the EU and punishes them now, Russia might well go for that. EU support for Ukraine is vital to Zelekovsky's success.

Let's not forget that Russia isn't the one stopping the (constant) supply of gas to the Eu. Ukraine is.
Anyway, Zelekovsky, as you said :) (sorry, trying to be cute there, no bad intention)

Well if the war was actually that popular people would be rushing to the recruitment offices.
Just saw a video of youth firebombing one of them.

You made it sounds like it's an unreasonable thing to do for a country that's being invaded

It'd be interesting to get some first hand accounts from those in CFC who enlisted on the Russian side (if any).

It is reasonable. But Ukraine isn't claiming they are stopping the gas supply because they are invaded. They claim that some russian soldiers tampered with it, creating safety issues with the network in Ukraine. Two quite different things, no?
(then again, I am not sure if the Eu will like not having gas, let alone when it already paid for it)

Potemkin cheerleaders for a Potemkin army.

Besides one of them lives in Moscow. They don't send many muscovites to the front.

You can be sure that if Russia comes up to with a new propaganda topic Kyriakos will spread it. He is even going to imply it’s as logical as it can get.

Was Russia’s goal never Kiev? - Kyriakos got you
Was Russia’s invasion necessary because of aggressive NATO? - Kyriakos got you
Nobody should trust NATO, the US or EU? -Kyriakos got you
Believing all the nuclear saber rattling? -Kyriakos got you
Russia didn’t send it’s best troops to the front? -Kyriakos got you
Zelenskiy turning off the tap voluntarily even though Ukraine depends on Western aid completely so it’s as illogical as it can get? - believe it or not, Kyriakos got you

If it’s on Ria Novosti in the evening you can bet your a** Kyriakos will post about it here by the morning. If you are lucky you will get snarky smilies and a passive aggressive tone as well!

thanks for the kind explanations like ı wasn't asking for anyhow . The point being the destruction of Russia taking place in various but CONTINIOUS phases . The Americans have "destroyed" Russian conventional military , because just watch the internet , and they are now picking on unconventional stuff and they want the rest of Russians passively watch . No Russian generals will possibly die today , but yeah , can't tell about tomorrow . You know , just like the lraqi stuff . So , quoting the whole text for ease or just one sentence , the last one possibly is not justification enough for the CFC phase of doubting Ukraine for today ?

Want to bet that the disinformation machines here will manage to turn around the narrative over the next couple of weeks from a "Russia is losing, its army is about to collapse" to an "we will prevent Putin from annexing more than half of Ukraine"?
They will also not bother justifying all the weapons dumping, pressing the ukranians to fight to the last ukranian, talking about bleeding Russia for years, etc. All will be memory holed and the resident chickenhawhs here will pretend they never believed any of it.

Then the narrative will be shifted again to "Ukraine is so wrecked that Russia should have it all, hey look they're taking it all over, that's what we really wanted all along. See the stupid russians are falling into our trap, we're geniuses".

Next year: "By the way, please please take back these 10 million refuges because our population is lacking housing and food, and protesting that we're giving both to foreigners instead".

Pathetic. Out warmongering idiots did all they could to set up a war, failed to actually prepare to win the war they succeeded in bringing about (there was never any interest in fighting, it was stupid), pressed the ukranian government to refuse to negotiate early and cut losses, and will finally dump Ukraine like a spent broken toy.

I will be crystal clear: Ukraine is already utterly defeated. There is no way it can win, it will run out of soldiers way before Russia could - and still Russia isn't even bothering to mobilize. While Ukraine mobilized everyone who couldn't bribe their way out of being recruited. Lots of people keep people dying uselessly because peace negotiations have been repeatedly torpedoed. Heads of state that have no real commitment to the war keep making processions to tell the ukranian government to drag it on, act like Hitler ordering its generals to stay put in face of overwhelming odds. But reassure them that unlike Hitler a path will be provided for safe exit. I wouldn't trust that promise but Zelensky isn't a bright one.

On gas: there are still no gas cuts. The other pipeline is taking the flows, as arranged between Gazprom and ukranian authorities.
Does no one here think it odd that gas keeps being pumped into Ukraine even though officially there's a state of all-out war going on? That both belligerents cooperate to maintain that gas flowing? Can you imagine Hitler and Stalin doing something like that after Barbarrossa began?

No.
That tells you everything you need to know about what this war is about, how much the stakeholders, inside and outside Ukraine, are invested on it, and the long-term prospects for its resolution.
The americans fume at the situation on the ground but dare not intervene because an outright defeat would instantly crumble their influence worldwide. The US cannot win a conventional limited war against Russia in eastern Ukraine. It might in western Ukraine, but that explains the whole russian strategy. Ukraine as a state, all its military strength holding it together still, will be destroyed in the east.
The europeans don't really want to defeat, let alone destroy, Russia. They're not really in it, just fell they have to go along with american pressure to use Ukraine to "weaken Russia".
The ukranian government wants to keep the money falling into bank accounts. Thew dreadful "war criminal monsters" money, with whom they happily continue to do business.:crazyeye:
The russians know a puppet show for what it is and play along.
And the cannon fodder die while their betters pose for photo-ops. War as usual. Let's all in in CFC cheer for and encourage more war. Years of war. Yay.

The sad thing is, this is history repeating itself, between great power games.

Ukraine 2022 is the mirror image of, and closes the era started by, Iraq 1990. Both contraries with foolish leaders easily deceived into taking on major military powers which needed a war to show the rest of the world that the pecking order was changing. Both cases where war could have been walked back from, but wasn't by motives of internal politics in those countries - the leaders probably would be toppled and assassinated, by the time they understood where things stood they would have had to sacrifice themselves to even attempt to avoid catastrophe and that was not in their character. Both wars of choice also of rising powers, which maneuvered and prepared for the show.

You can be sure that if Russia comes up to with a new propaganda topic Kyriakos will spread it. He is even going to imply it’s as logical as it can get.
If matters like Brexit, Trump, COVID, and Ukraine taught us anything, it's that tribal allegiance is an overriding factor for many on deciding what's right or wrong.

Some food for thought:

There were only two T-14 present during parade. Three during rehearsals. This is AFAIK smallest number of T-14 seen during the event since 2015 introduction of T-14.
Flyover cancelled in all locations. I've had a brief look at images from the parade in Moscow, looked like cloudy, sometimes partially cloudy. Not enough to spoil it. And it doesn't justify cancelling it in all locations.
Where is Gerasimov? Unconfirmed reports speak about his injury in Ukraine, but no confirmation. But his absence is suspicious.

I was also going to ask about Gerasimov. Ukrainian military expert Oleg Zhdanov claims he has been replaced, but I have not found any confirmation from non-Ukrainian sources on this - maybe he was injured during his frontline visit after all?
Regarding the weather conditions on May 9th: Found this satellite image from a Sentinel that appears to be from May 9th this year. To me the weather looks rather good (at least for flying). Image has not a proper time stamp, but the shadows from the clouds indicate it's probably taken sometimes around mid day.

Your the one telling stories.

Russians running out of tanks etc assuming the numbers they had were accurate. They're retreating around Kharkiv.

USA is considering another 40 billion in aid.

Screws are tightening on Russia there's product shortages on the shelves of some Russian shops now.
600 lollipops confirmed out of 2400-800 total with some numbers as high as 1000.

Let's sticky this post and re-visit it in 6 months. What's written here is such a literary work of art. With the amount of gaslighting involved, who needs Gazprom? Please keep that up champ!

!RemindMe 6 months.

Ukrainian military experts in first days of March claimed Russian defense minister has been replaced and Russia is about to declare martial law.
But it is old story, who remembers this by now?
That's the current job of Ukrainian military experts, to claim these things.

Tallin, Estonia.
At least they don't bulldoze the flowers yet.
We have to stand together, Russians and those whoever share our values.
