1695 (0) - We look to be preparing nicely for the invasion of Japan. I'll probably keep on preparing, and might declare if I feel we're ready. Are we aiming for domination or conquest? We're nearly at the population limit for domination, but need substantially more land. If we're going for conquest, it might be a good idea to start razing some towns. When (and if) we make it to communism, state property should help a whole lot.
1700 (1) - Shuffling troops.
1705 (2) - More shuffling. A round of missionaries completes. I'll have to remember to order up some more once they finish their jobs. Our catapults have arrived in Tokyo, but need to rest 4 turns.
1710 (3) - Nothing much happens.
1715 (4) - Hanno has been born in Teotihuacan. He's a great merchant, and I have no idea what to do with him. We could either use him for a golden age, or a trade route followed by deficit research. I'll let the next leader decide.
1720 (5) - Amid all the missionaries going around, Hinduism manages to spread to Tlacopan on its own.
1725 (6) - Replaceable Parts comes in. Research is set for Education, due in 6.
1730 (7) - Our many catapults are all healed now, so let the festivities commence! (War is declared on Japan.)
1735 (8) - On Japan's turn, he attacks us with a catapult, a pike and a musket, causing us no casualties. He also parked a knight and a catapult outside of Tokyo, and they were promptly eliminated.
1740 (9) - I see no further counter attacks from Japan. We can attack Osaka next turn.
1745 (10) - One further samurai attacks us, and loses.
Now for the battle of Osaka!
I hunt down 4 accuracy promoted cats, and the town defense is no more.
We have a ton of cats sitting around, so I promote two to barrage, and suicide them.
A knight defeats a pike, but goes down to 1.6 strength.
A knight defeats a longbow, and suffers no damage.
A knight defeats a longbow, and goes down to 6.5 strength.
A knight defeats a catapult, and goes down to 8.7 strength.
A maceman defeats the final catapult (down to 7 strength), and the city is ours!
Many of our troops are wounded, so I would withdraw them to the city next turn to heal.
The borders of Kyoto don't quite stretch to the cost, so there is a road between Tokyo and Osaka available for us to use. Nice!
If it is of interest, I've been building hindu missionaries from Tenoch (generally 1 every turn). I've been sending them to either our Mongolian cities (for culture), or to Egyptian cities (for visibility). I believe that there are a couple running around right now.
Remember, we have a great merchant sitting in Teotihuacan.
Is Mike coming back now that the holidays are over, and if so, who's up next?
