(I had a full page written, but then got a page not found error, losing everything...)

Since the industrial era is near, the the Iroquois are about to attack, here's a few things I have for discussion and into next term:

1 - The Impending Iroquois Invasion - The Iroquois are about to attack, after forcing their galley out atleast twice, and we're in position to attack. We can attack with samurai this turn, and upgrade unused once. Then drive into their heartlands, taking the Sistine Chapel!

2 - The Industrial Era - We're just 2 techs away, and WILL be in the Industrial Era this term (provided Science does so). So, we have to prepare for our railnet. That means, more workers need to be built in our high-food cities.

3 - Upgrades - We have some catapults, and other units that need upgrading. We have the gold to do just that.

4 - Science - We really need to decide our goal. We're nearing a boost-zone in science (the Hoover Dam path). I would like to end this term in the industrial era.

5 - Navigation/Contacts - A Russian Galley was spotted along our coast. This means that contacts will soon be traded. Any monopolies on either continent that we held will/may be lost.

6 - The Forbidden Palace - This is the latest ever that the FP has been built in the demogame. Mostly, it's been in the ancient era (or early middle ages). We're about to take more land, so we have 2 options:

1 - Very expensive cavalry.
2 - Switch to JS Bach.

So, this is it. We're entering the home stretch! This is where techs become 4-5 turns to research. That means, science must plan atleast 3 techs in advance! We will be gaining more land (and hopefully a better FP site), so that means more gpt.

So long as it is a Defensive war in witch the Iroquois declares war on us, then I have no problems.

[roleplay]This painting was presented by an artist in Odawara depicting the impending battle between us, and the Iroquois. The front troops are our samurai, with cavalry in the background, representing a new era.[/roleplay]

@CG - we can ask them to leave, and they'll declare war. Better than 13 MWs attacking and potentially razing a city.

We CAN'T switch to Bach. It's in Marsellis.

Anyway, good of you to put this up, so that I can discuss this thoroughly.

Since my initative hasn't made the Courts yet, I can see to moving the FP to Doomsville under the circumstances. (Roma perhaps if there is ample support.)

So let the debate on that subject begin. (So that I can put up a poll tommorow night/Friday Morning...)

BTW, At full science, we get Magnets in 3. This allows for perhaps a full TC (+/- 1 Turn) to get into the Industriual Era.

Also, Salmanca is home to not only Sistine, but also the Pyramids, making this a valuable city indeed.

Don't know what I was thinking. Maybe another wonder (like SunTzu?). Can't open the save up now. My computer's low on mem..

BTW, has anyone given thought as to a 20K loss? The Iroquois have 2 huge wonders. Granted, Sistine was late, but it's possible they could near 20k towards the end of the game.

We certanly need a plan for this, would Civanator's plans earlyer still be of use to us? or would we need to upgrade them?

They need to be upgraded. The Iroquois culture has grown since...

Cavalry is also a dead end, like swordsmen, and cannot be upgraded to tanks.
Swordsmen and Cavalry are end units in the embryonic waste tradition.
First we need to spend the 20 swordsmen and sharpen some samurais on the inferior Iroquois who we can take with a single hand. 28 cities to 8 cites, Samurai and elite/veteran swordsmen wv their 3 attack and 1 defense swordsmen, come on that proposal is not very productive. However, I agree on the catapult upgrade to cannon.

Primarily, we DO need Magellans expedition, and if we can get Russias Navigation, AND THEN switch the wonder build or other major construction somewhere, we will have the need for Magellans Wonder 2 extra move and we need it badly on this planet.

i dont understand why you people talk as if the iroquis will still be around at the end of the game.

Lets upgrade our samuri right now, then invade the iroquios nation, captureing all their citys. no peace they have nothing we want. look at all the wonders we will get. we would of taken our unstopable place as the worlds super power and no one can touch us. After we take iroquis who could stop us China? no there on a different conteint plus they are weak. France? let them try. we after we take the iroquios nothing will stop us. we will be at peace. we can make freinds (with gifts and rop) with all the countrys on our contient, then send our navy to bulid colonies on the new land.

Problem is nobody, I feel like we almost already won, and we DO need a challenge, and we DO need to involve people. So we need to make the game interesting, not just sweep up the leftovers with overwhelming forces and overwhelming micromangament run by a few.

Er... Aztecs have Sun Tzu's. There are NO wonders up for grabs at this time.

And I checked the Screens... Russia does NOT have Navigation. They used a Sea Bridge from Azteca to former Rome.

Also, We have 2 Horsemen still in the North. Why don't we upgrade those to Calves as a Quick Strike force and leave our Samurai as a Strike and Garrison force?

(If our Sams were straight Knights, I'd be all for their Upgrade. Or if we were Russia. As it stands, I still see some use for Samurai as they are, if only as a stop gap until we mass produce Muskets and/or Rifles.)

And Magelan's only yields 1 Extra move. The +2 flag started up in Conquests.

Sir Donald III, we should go directly for Navigation when we still can, and let the crazy democracy and micromanagement people wait for a couple of turns so we can assure at least the Magellans Wonder. I am tired of being deafened by the concyles of mob rule.
Let us get that wonder NOW. We still have a lot of infrastructure to build around before we can grade it up to railroads.

Russia does not have Nav. Noone does. It looks like Russia crossed a sea channel once they had Astro. We got lucky that they headed South instead of North or they would have found the Zulu first.

We do have other options that would not waste any production shields:
1. Zojoji switches from Palace to anything.
2. En'Gha switches to Palace as a pre-build to Newton's.
3. Odawara switches to Wall Street.
4. Zojoji starts a pre-build for Magellans at some point.

We then build the FP in a more beneficial city (Doomsville or Veii?)

[/QUOTE]crazy democracy and micromanagement people
:crazyeye: The crazy democracy people?? its the freiken democracy game. :crazyeye:

I know it seems like the game is almost over, we need to concentrate more on fun than wining.

THIS IS MY 200th post!!!!!!!!!

Do we have Samurai near the front lines? If so, we should give them nothing to attack next turn during their likely advance. Once they are well within our borders, we ask them to leave while our Samurai are poised for the ambush.

Chief Sitting Duck won't see it coming. Please tell me we have the Samurai available to pull this off.

Nobody, if you want some fun, read my Casino thread in the RPG part. Some of us like strategic challenges where several players work as a team, with all the difficulties and synergies we get out of it. I am not whining, but I am hesitant to let micromanagement and a stable democracy wrap this game up in a slow paced game, or let the extreme hawks make this a strictly MSAV game with some DP input.

Nobody said:
They did attack first, and i dont think we need any other wars after this :)
I agree. But there is nothing we can do about other civs declaring war against us. Its one of the wierd properties of probhibility mechanics that governs the universe.
