Saudi potatoes or Chinese potatoes, a shopping dilemma.

Which potatoes would you buy?

The Chinese might be annoying, but at least they don't bomb our buildings and kill our people. Remember Osama bin Laden is a Saudi. I vote for China.

Don't be a hipster and buy both!

Its absolutely disgusting that either of those countries are able to produce potatoes. I would buy fake potatoes instead. All you need is some water, butter, and fire.

Saudi:
1. They are friends of "the West" (where I live)/closer to Dubai (where you live)
2. The potatoes probably wouldn't have lead poisoning
3. Monarchy>>>>>>>>>>Any form of Communism (even some kind of crazy Communist Monarchy).

Easy to say when your belly's full.

I'd buy the cheaper spuds.

What if I said that I was being held at gunpoint, with certified Saudi and Chinese potatoes in front of me, and I haven't eaten in days?

IMO Muslim countries take care of there food better then other cultures. So i'd go with Saudi potatoes. BUT if it was my decision, i'd get potatoes grown in Poland, cuz it's 500x cheaper and i'm supporting my Countries Economy! :goodjob:

Besides, they only sell Polish Potatoes, and wheat products in Poland. (except in the occasion when there's a Multicultural section in a store. Then i'd get some nice Vietnamese Noodles or something).

Chinese.

while the majority of AlQeda in Iraq are Saudi and the Majority of Suicide bombers are also Saudi.

I would just buy the cheapest potatoes. Honestly, if I had to have a moral debate about every item I should buy because it could potentially support some tyranical nations I wouldn't able to function in the modern world.

Buy the Californian Ramen noodles!

It's only starch man.

I'm Irish, so I'd simply wait for the door-to-door potatoman to show up, wherever he was from I'd buy up his entire stock

Potatoes grows better in mountainous areas.

Isn't it more that not a lot of other staples can grow in mountainous areas?

I really prefer local spuds if I can. First local new potatoes are ariving now, and they are so much tastier than the Kenyan ones...

With a little education, it's pretty easy to make political and environental statements with your wallet. A real case of: the personal is the political.

Organic, fair trade, free-range... are easy ways to vote for change with your dollar (when you can afford it, of course).

For instance: people say "Oh! I can't afford organic potatoes, they cost $2/lb instead of $1/lb!" Then the same person buys potato chips at $6/lb.

I think I'd go with the Saudi potatoes. The chinese ones could actually be a health risk.
