Saving maps from current game.

Not sure if this is the place for this question.

I've been playing a map. I overwrote the initial save file for 4000BC. Is there anyway I can save the map midgame so I can restart from the begining?

I've tried WB but it saves the map with the state of the game being played. I'm looking to save it so as to start over.

Sorry, no way. You could "clean up" your midgame save though. Just delete all cities, improvements and such, and replace the starting settler + 2nd unit. I doubt that its worth the trouble though.

That probably wouldn't work anyway since the file would be saved with the current game year.

Thats no biggy. Actually the WBsave is a clean "txt" file, that you can work on with any word editor. Its more a question of "time needed vs. worth of the result" then about accessibility of the data.
