Schools

I know ROM and AND are not being updated (for now), but I wondered if anyone knows why this happens:

When I get to build a School, the description says that both Science and Culture will increase (by I think 10% each) for the city. However, when the "Actual" reported changes for the city are negative! Also, there is even a Production decrease shown. Are schools actually detrimental to the city?

They replace Monasteries, so you lose all the bulbs and culture from that.

I didn't realize that Schools replaced Monestaries! I have 'mass' monestaries in every city, so I better not build a school! Thanks for your reply.
