Ok, I've decided to do a quick 'n' dirty story game using my personal modification of Embryodead and Yoda Power's Medieval European Mod.
The changes I've made are thus:
-Replaced Bohemia with Switzerland (default leader is Wilhelm Tell).... UU's the same, but I re-named the Houfnice to Culverin.
-Added a few new techs, buildings and wonders to incorporate certain Europa Universalis concepts: I.e. Germany, Switzerland and Burgandy can build a building (in their capitol only) called a "German Principality", and if a civ controls two or more of these buildings, then they can build a GW called "The German Empire" that grants a series of bonuses and produces Landsknecht mercenaries every 20 turns.
Similarly, Spain, Aragon and Portugal can build an "Iberian Kingdom" building in their capitol, and if any faction controls two or more of THOSE, then they can build a GW called "Kingdom of Spain" which produces Tercios and provides other benefits.
In addition, gaining control of any two of the (former) capitols of England, Ireland or Scotland will allow you to build a "Great Britain" wonder, any two of Sicily, Venice or Florence will allow you to buid a "Kingdom of Italy" GW, Control of the capitol of Poland and Lithuania allows creation of the "Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth", control of any two capitols of the Rus, Novgorod or the Golden Horde allows creation of the "Russian Empire" and control of the capitols of both Denmark and Sweden allows creation of the "Union of Kalmar"...
I also made a few other minor tweaks here and there...
Anyways, the setup:
Switzerland, Duke (Monarch) difficulty, Small world with Raging Barbarians and everything else randomized.
Game settings: VP scoring (via goods shipments produced by "*Resource* Trader" SW)
Domination, Culture, Conquest and Expedition (Space Race) victories allowed... I'm also playing using the NoRaze patch (I'm SO sick and tired of the AI constantly pillaging everything in sight!)
Now, on with the story:

Kapitel 1: AD 700-800, Expansion und Entdeckung

Spoiler :
The sleek form of the armored air/space cruiser, Vereinegte Staaten Schiff Gettysburg drifted into orbit over yet another more or less parallel earth, and the Astrogation Officer turns to the ships disreputable commanding officer and says, "Mein Kapitän..."
Kapitän zur Sternen Benjamin "Hikaro Takayama" Beinbrech replies, "Ja, was is los, Leutnant?"
<"Sir, we've arrived at the coordinates you specified and have achieved parking orbit!"> the Astrogator replied.
"<Excellent work, Ludwig!"> the captain replied, "<Have the landing party meet me in the shuttle bay.... It's time to chalk up another victory for our cause!>"
Soon the shuttle carrying Kapitän Beinbrech and some of his key staff officers/advisers lands on the far side of a tall mountain, from which two nomadic tribes' camps can be seen... One is not particularly distinguished, but the other tribe's tents are festooned with red banners bearing a white cross.
It was to this camp that the captain and his men travelled. After greeting the tribal leaders and explaining his vision for their people, along with teaching the elders the key to masonry, the tribe decided to accept Kapitän Beinbrech as their leader. Thus it was in 700 AD that Freiherr Benjamin Beinbrech became the leader of the Swiss people and his first act was to split the tribe into two groups... One would head Northwest to take advantage of the large river flowing down from the mountain, while the other would travel East in hopes of finding suitable lands.
The Settler party traveling Northwest discovered vast plains with large herds of sheep and bountiful grasslands with abundant grains growing to the Northeast, and Iron in some nearby hills to the South of the other tribal village.
In AD 705, Freiherr Beinbrech leads the first party in founding the city of Schwyz on the Rhein river. When representatives are sent from the city to inform the nearby Vlach tribe that they are now citizens of Switzerland, they not only welcome the news with open arms, but also present the Freiherr with scrolls containing a treatise on how to create Organized Armies (allows training of Archers).
The Freiherr sets the research priorities of his wise men to creating a Barter system and allocates 70% of the national revenue to support that goal (Note: In MeM, like Civ II, most governments have research caps, and Autocracy, the starting government, is capped at 70%), and he begins to establish a German Principality in Schwyz (German Principality, as mentioned earlier, allows possibility of creating the German Empire, but it also acts as a Barracks, gives a boost to the treasury and makes 1 person happy)
Ten years later, the Second group of Settlers arrives at the shores of the Donau (Danube) and founds the city of Bern near forests with abundant Wild Game and a good supply of Quality Timber (Timber is a strat resource for building high-end ships and Siege weapons, as well as some improvements and wonders).
In the years AD 725-730, Schwyz not only establishes itself as the head of a German Principality, but representatives from Bern also arrive in the city to establish the Swiss Confederacy.
(Swiss confederacy is a wonder allows anyone who captures my capitol and who has the appropriate government, to build a "vassal state" Small Wonder that acts like the Forbidden Palace.... All factions have similar buildings)
In AD 740, the first band of scruffy-looking Swiss Warriors have finished training in Bern and begin following the Donau Northeast to see what they can find.
In 750, Schwyz also sends out a band of Warriors, who head South to explore the course of the Inn river. The Warriors from Bern spot bands of Barbarian warrios, belonging to the Severian and Banu Hilal tribes.
Shortly after their report reaches Schwyz, they are slaughtered to the last man by the Severians.
AD 755: The council of Wise Men presents Freiherr Beinbrech with an organized Barter system and begins work on establishing a Manor system:
Dyes are discovered South of Schwyz, outside our borders, and two sources of high-quality Amber are discovered right outside Bern!
The Borders of Schwyz expand due to the Freiherr's (Palace) influence, while the Warriors exploring the Southern regions make contact with another highly-organized nation known as Denmark. They report back that the Danes have a larger military than we do (thanks to the stupid Severians killing our Warriors outside Bern!), but they are extremely backwards and have nothing to offer us in trade.
AD 775: Bern trains our first Archer company, who is able to get revenge on the Severians who killed our Warrior company earlier (and would have added looting Bern to their list of crimes, were it not for our Archers' timely intervention).
AD 780: Schwyz also trains an Archer company and begins organizing an expedition to settle a new town.
AD 785: The Bern Archers discover an Abodrite camp near another source of Iron... Unfortunately said Iron is between two volcanoes, which severely limits the options for building a town near enough to exploit it.
AD 790: The Abodrite camp is wiped out and the 25 Gold discovered therein is sent back to Schwyz, along with the Archers' reports of border patrols wearing Gold hauberks being spotted from the top of the mountain where the Abodrite camp was located.
In the Southwest, our Warrior company spots an Iberian encampment near the site selected for the soon to be launched city-founding expedition.... The site is coastal and has access to herds of Horses and the previously discovered Dyes.
AD 795: The Archer company exploring the area Northeast of Bern wanders into a Seljuk village. After regaling the village chieftain with tales of the outside world and the Swiss Confederacy, the chieftain thanks the Archer company's Hauptmann by giving him copies of some yellowed scrolls he has.
The scrolls are sent to Schwyz, where the various wise men and priests discover that they are a Classical Latin treatise on Shipbuilding written by a famous Roman naval architect.
In the South, our sole remaining Warrior company wipes out the Iberian camp, collecting 25 Gold and paving the way for our Settlers to build a city there, once the expedition gets organized, that is....
AD 800: Bern trains another Archer company, while the Archers exploring the Northern Reaches discovers the camp where the Severians that killed our Warrior company came from... Soon revenge will be ours!
And so the first century of the Swiss Confederacy comes to an end.
