After completing a technology, and before starting another one (when "Finished" shows at the top of the screen), if a Quest Decision pops up and it yields a science bonus, the yield does not accrue to the beakers going into the next technology. Likewise if I kill an alien with the Scavenging policy enabled (which gives science for aliens killed), it doesn't go into my beaker count if I have not started a new technology yet. And when hitting resource pods.
I usually remember right after the bonus screen pops up. I hover over the next technology to see my beaker count, and it might be 7/320 (beakers left over after research) right after getting 20 bonus. So, I should have 20 or more.
Of course the work-around would be, always start a new technology at the start of the turn. But I often forget, and forfeit the beakers.
And I'm so forgetful that I don't have saved games with the before-and-after, but I will try to remember next time and post it.
