31. Peter/Russia [12] (11+1) Russia's massive faith economy makes them one of the best civs to use Jesuit Education, so they can get more out of it than most. For a religious civ, they're only beat by Arabia, and about equal to Spain, in science, but still ahead of India, Khmer, Georgia, etc. Peter's ability admittedly doesn't help when you're chasing after SV, so you shouldn't be behind anyone. Russia does at least have an ace up their sleeve: They're one of the best at leveraging the Monasticism (75% science in cities with Holy sites) dark age policy card. Half-price lavras make that easy for you to take advantage of. Suddenly your 40 science cities are now pumping out 70 science for that era. It's a great way to sling forward in science.

38. Suleiman/Ottomans [20]
40. Tamar/Georgia [3] (6-3) While I think civs with city state bonuses are versatile for every victory type, Georgia's require a lot of investment and set up that take away from a SV. Whereas Maori just needs to explore with warriors to find scientific city states first, or Greece just needs to build cheap acropolises, Georgia has to play a complicated game of converting and keeping city states to their religion.

40. Tamar/Georgia [3]
41. Teddy Roosevelt/America [20]
42. Tomyris/Scythia [8] (11-3) Tomyris rightfully deserved being the worst at SV. She is so comically mismatched, it's like playing at one difficulty level higher.
43. Trajan/Rome [20]
44. Victoria/England [21] (20+1) No way Victoria should be sitting at the average level, particularly when playing at higher difficulty levels. To get an SV, you have to a) survive early game (long enough to start building campuses), b) grow your cities fast during midgame to get a sustainable science advantage, c) generate ungodly amounts of production once you have the space techs. Vicky is solid at (a), good at (b) and excellent at (c). Although having no specific science bonuses, Royal Navy Dockyards are a huge win for SV: free electricity and free quick defense once they start producing ranged units. If you combine with golden age 4 citizen settlements, you can spam the globe quickly yet defensibly in the early mid game (also grabbing any sciencey NW tiles like Galapagos). Essentially, not having to worry about production or defense makes it easier to build and focus on science,

11. Gandhi/India [6] = 9 - 3. Sorry Gandhi, unlike Peter, you have no advantage to getting a religion (early). While you do have Dharma, you can only hope and pray a religion spreads to your lands that allows you to faith by campus buildings. Good luck with that.

40. Tamar/Georgia [3]
41. Teddy Roosevelt/America [17] - 20-3 - A good civ but badly suited for science victory. No bonuses to science or production and their UUs come very late.

28. Pachacuti/Inca [23]
30. Pericles/Greece [23] (22+1) Culture helps a science victory and those city state bonuses Pericles can get easily are nothing to sneeze at.

14. Gitarja/Indonesia [21]
15. Gorgo/Greece [20]
16. Harald Hardrada/Norway [23] 22+1. Getting science in non-traditional ways is quite fun, especially through naval plunder, since I am a player who likes to produce many ships.

41. Teddy Roosevelt/America [17]
42. Tomyris/Scythia [5] 8-3. I don't see much here that helps in the scientific race. Religious? Yes; Cultural? perhaps. But I don't see much scientific here.

36. Saladin/Arabia [21]
37. Seondeok/Korea [26]
38. Suleiman/Ottomans [17] = 20 - 3. Your standard warmonger. Doesn't bring much to a science victory other than conquering and some extra amenities.
41. Teddy Roosevelt/America [17]
42. Tomyris/Scythia [5]
43. Trajan/Rome [20]
44. Victoria/England [21]
46. Wilhelmina/Netherlands [24]

1. Alexander/Macedon [22] (21+1) Sure, he's a warmonger designed for Domination, but he also has some great alternative sources of science. Every time you conquer a city with a campus or encampment (practically every AI city), you get an eureka. And every time you build a unit in a city with a Basilikoi Paides, you get science from that. You can just keep pumping out unit after unit - don't worry about maintenance costs - just suicide them if needed (you don't even have to worry about war weariness!)

37. Seondeok/Korea [26]
38. Suleiman/Ottomans [17]
41. Teddy Roosevelt/America [17]
42. Tomyris/Scythia [2] (5-3) This warmonger, on the other hand, offers nothing different from anyone else for science.

17. Hojo Tokimune/Japan [22]
18. Jadwiga/Poland [14]
20. John Curtin/Australia [27] (26+1) Is he good? Is he great? Is he OP? For sure he's a top SV contender. Those adjancencies on all districts you need can get very sweet.

22. Kupe/Maori [18]

29. Pedro/Brazil [24]
30. Pericles/Greece [23]

44. Victoria/England [21]

38. Suleiman/Ottomans [17]
41. Teddy Roosevelt/America [17]
42. Tomyris/Scythia [0] 2-3 - ELIMINATED - Not a top tier civ to start with and has nothing to help with science victory
43. Trajan/Rome [20]
44. Victoria/England [21]
46. Wilhelmina/Netherlands [24]

44. Victoria/England [22] (21+1) : Well i played a game yesterday with harbors into science and the boost can be something really interesting, especially when you can also raise food and prod from internal routes with them. Get Reyna with a harbor/comm hub combo for better effects. Getting 2 golden ages back to back is difficult but the medieval one is a must for science boost from harbors.

11. Gandhi/India [Eliminated] 3 - 3. Nothing really works here. Getting a religion early (and getting the faith buy campus buildings) is difficult with their full price holy districts. Their uu isn't fast enough to pillage a whole lot either, though you could conquer your way to science, but so can nearly everyone else. You can only hope a religion spreads to you so Dharma can give you the follower belief to faith buy campus buildings. Good luck with that.

29. Pedro/Brazil [25] = 24 + 1 massive adjacencies is massive adjacencies. There is a little bit of luck here, as you are likely to have less rainforest than Korea has hills, but the gameplay is simply better with Pedro than Korea. You actually have to plan and save those rainforests.

8. Eleanor/France [4] (3+1) There's not much for SV for Eleanor especially, but everyone is overlooking the 20% bonus to key wonders. I've done a French SV before and relied on Oxford (for the extra science), Kilwa (even more crazy amounts of science with 3 scientific city state suzerains) and Ruhr (precious production for my space projects. All those wonders fall under the 20% bonus, and throw in the Gothic Architecture policy card for even faster construction.
9. Eleanor/England [15]
10. Frederick/Germany [22]
12. Genghis Khan/Mongolia [12] (15-3) just like Tomyris and Shaka who have both been eliminated, yet another warmonger with nothing special for SV

30. Pericles/Greece [23]
31. Peter/Russia [10] (9+1) Not time for Russia to go yet. They certainly aren't a top 10 science civ, but there are so many weaker ones left. Other than Arabia and possibly Spain, Russia is probably the strongest religious focused civ for a science victory. They can take advantage of Jesuit education extremely well (and actually have bonuses toward getting a religion so you can get it). And their classical/medieval Monumentality Golden age allows you to spam tons of early cities to get your campuses up and running sooner. Even their trade route bonus is useful for catching up in science early game on Deity. Being able to settle good production cities in tundra is helpful for completing science projects. Compared to remaining civs like Eleanor, India, or America I think Russia has many more advantages toward a science victory, even if they're not particularly designed for it.

31. Peter/Russia [11] = 10 + 1 Have to agree with above, it's too early for them to fall. Unlike India, Peter can use those half price Lavra's to hopefully get an early religion and can choose Jesuit education as a belief. Certainly not top 10 material here since there is uncertainty, but not bottom 10 either.

43. Trajan/Rome [17] = 20 - 3. A useful and convenient civ all around, but nothing really helps in science (though the culture indirectly helps with faster governments and whatnot). Amenities from the Bath are nice, but not necessary. The slight positive is cheap bath's will boost industrial zones. But you still need a way to get science.
