During my recent game as the Scions, the 2nd turn I had Alcinus (sp?), he went barbarian on me, so I killed him with Korrina the Red. After 50-75 turns, I had not gotten him back. Is this a bug? Did I do something wrong? Help! I am running 23a.
Alcinus doesn't always return to the Scions. There's a decent chance that he will spawn for a different civ instead... Which is fine, as eventually he goes barb again and comes back, with new spell types. There is also the Emperor's Dagger unit that can hunt him down.
He will, yes. Once he goes barb again, and he will, he'll be killed by the AI and then respawned... He has a much higher chance to respawn for the Scions then for anyone else.
Actually, there still is a minor chance that he will go barb and actually manage to flee from his civ. I saw Alcinus gone barb hiding out in a goblin fort just the other day... it made colonization a real headache -_-
Might be worthwhile to place a PyPerTurn on Alcinus which makes him have a chance to insta-die if he is a Barbarian and on an unowned tile (or in a Barbarian owned city)
Could even tie it to an AA/MM promotion which requires one of the 3 Alcinus versions and Barbarian Civ so that it ONLY runs while he is Barb

Just after I got Alcinus he "committed suicide rather than turn on his civilization", a message to that effect at any rate. By Turn 400ish, when I gave up due to continual CTD's, he still hadn't returned & I never found him with Emperors Dagger Spell; so it does seem there is another possibility.
That's the message for when Loyalty kills a unit instead of letting it turn to the Barbarians. Thought Tarq had Alcinus specifically blocked from being capable of gaining Loyalty though.
