Most of us have known for a long time now that Future Tech is not worth the time for what little bit of a score you get at the end. There have been several players who researched like 25 Future Techs and got only 15 points for example. Well, now I think I have figured out exactly how much a Future Tech is worth.
I used a save game editor and gave myself all the techs at the beginning of the game, so I could research Future Tech right away and it would be easier for me to figure out how many points are awarded.
My math might be wrong, so correct me if anything is wrong.
At 2950 B.C. I had learned Future Tech 1, and the histograph screen showed .3 pts (Deity level). So I had 1 future tech for 1 turn out of the 21 that had been played. Score is figured by average per turn. So if I use 1 turn that I had the tech divided by 21 turns played multiplied by 6 (scoring multiplier for diety), I get .285, but the scoring system rounds to the nearest tenths, so .3 .
(1/21)*6=.3
Edit: or 6/21=.3
The next turn I now had that 1 Future Tech for 2 turns, so the formula is:
(2/22)*6=.5
Edit: or 12/22 =.5
Now, this is with 1 turn being equal to 1 standard point (before being multiplied by the difficulty level), so in other words, 1 FUTURE TECH IS WORTH 1 CONTENT CITIZEN OR SPECIALIST!! You can make a bigger difference by irrigating a couple tiles instead of mining them or changing 1 taxman to an entertainer to make a person happy instead of content.
Future Techs should be worth hundreds of points, not a lousy 1 point!
