[R&F] Scotland Livestream

Once again I will miss this as they always happen while I'm travelling home after work. Still, this is one of the Civs I'm more interested in so it will be good to catch up later. I'm hoping to see them making good use of the alliance system.

In terms of looking out for info, after Giskler's epic screen-capping efforts, other than full details on Zulu and Probably-Mapuche, is there anything else substantial that we're missing?

HE SPLIT HIS HEAD IN HALF.
A mace is more like a golf club and i think the whole splitting his heed in half with a battle axe is twaddle... so much of Bannock burn is disputed and this story is just OTT.

Is there anything we don't already know about alliances? We know all the level 1-3 bonuses and that you can only have one of each type.

Strange to deep dive alliances with Scotland. You would have thought they would have used the Cree since they have alliance bonuses (but perhaps they dont' want to livestream the Cree for "reasons")

:sarcasm:I’ve come to understand that when Firaxis says deep dive, they mean it into a shallow pool. They must have different dictionaries up there. :sarcasm:

On a serious note, I do hope we get something juicy and meaty about alliances. Sarah and Ed are in it so it definitely could be good.

Haven't confirmed all the late game policy cards yet. Might be some great people still that are new or changed. Could be some other wonders or city states that are changed, but the list is getting quite narrow indeed :D

Also keep in mind, that the streamer build is not final. ^^

Still had an effect on how he is portrayed. Even his famous statue is holding an axe. And just about every picture of the Battle includes this incident.

Surely you mean a battle axe? Don't you know what he did at Bannockburn?

Sir Henry de Bohun charged him on horseback. The Bruce shifted to the side in his saddle, and brought his axe down on the knight's helmet.

HE SPLIT HIS HEAD IN HALF.

And broke his axe, so he had to get a new one.

Aye there's probably a #bannackburnneverhappened somewhere. History of Scotland seems to be balanced between Us, Them and then everyone elses view. Which is probably true for all of us, in all of our countries.

I have little hope that this AI wil uprade its units in this current game because they didn't change the tech tree

*Sigh* I have to decide between the last presidential debate and Civ livestream :cringe: Both start at the same time, so I won't be able to ask for any angry leader... Well, nevermind. I'll just ask if there is anything interesting, or I'll just watch it later :P

Unless they use a build that the Youtube/Twitch streamers like Marbozir and Quill18 do not have installed, but instead a more advanced build, we are not likely to see anything new or different than what the streamer community has already shown us.

I will try to watch it anyway just in case it will be a more advanced build of the game.

We already know the press build is outdated due to the Khevsureti/Khevsur spelling. And obviously the devs are still working on the game and changes will be made.

Edit: One example is that Anton already mentioned in the previous stream that he has nerfed tier 2 alliances, but it wasn't reflected in the build they were playing.

I'd argue that Scotland is a fantastic civ for Alliances because of the civ's bonuses lending to peacemongering (war weariness affects the UA), Scotland has the CB to help alliance members, and that Tier 2 cultural trade routes further boosts its Great Scientist and Great Engineer generation.

The stream will very likely show off the CB for alliance members so they that they can talk more about alliance mechanics in context.

Alliances seem to be a double edged sword so Scotland is the perfect civ. I will be interested to see if the devs think so and what they say.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that there's a 100% chance Firaxis won't be showing off that build because it doesn't have Scotland in it.

And there's a near 0% chance that the alliance bonuses won't be the version Firaxis plans to release on launch or else that just makes the stream that's specifically about alliances pretty embarrassing on them.

A few alliances adjustments are not exactly groundbreaking reveals. Spelling changes even more so. I am not going to expect much and most of you should not either. That probably will not do anything to stop the whining that will no doubt start after the stream is over about the lack of anything new shown, but CivFanatics posters are gonna find something to whine about regardless.

Please, CivGods, please let Ed accidentally open the civilopedia today and show us the last unknown civ...
