I have recently gotten a new computer with a 17" monitor with a resolution of 1280x720. When I access the Monitor settings through Control Panel, however, the best resolution I can use is 1280x768. When I move the slider in either direction I obtain drastically different resolutions, neither of which produce a quality image. I have attempted to change the resolution via the menu on the monitor itself, however that simply returns the resolution to 1280X768.

Is there any other way to fine-tune the screen resolution without changing it so drastically?

The first pic is the Display Settings Screen. The second is an example of the resolution.

It's only adjustable in steps. If you can't find other steps for it, try finding a driver for the monitor or upgrading the video drivers. and LCD monitor doesn't actually need a driver, but occasionally adding it will widen the options it has that you can use.

Install a driver for the monitor. If it didn't come with a driver disk, visit Windows Update or the manufacturer's website.
