I can't play the game. After I reach the main menu, I can do things for 5-20 seconds before the screen becomes unresponsive. The mouse cursor moves, but nothing I select gets highlighted, and clicking doesn't do anything - the screen is frozen. Keyboard commands don't do anything, either.
My system specs are:
Win XP Home SP3
Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz
3.25 GB RAM
nVidia GeForce 8600 GTS (Driver 6.14.12.5896 7/9/2010)
I have tried uninstalling Steam and Civ V and reinstalling them, but keep getting the same problem.
I have the intro movie turned off, because I can't even get to the main menu if it's turned on.
I've tried the following graphics settings by editing the INI file:
1280x1024 Full
1280x1024 Windowed
1024x768 Windowed
Funny thing is, I was able to play for a few hours on release night, but for some reason this problem is popping up permanently now. What the heck? Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
