Hello all! :)

I was wondering if anyone could show a screenshot of Australia/New Zealand including the resources that can be found there?

That would have been very nice!

Uhm... What screen shot ? Are you refering to some particular scenario map ? Because i think ther eis more than one Earth map around...

Oh... I'm sorry then.

You see, I haven't got the game yet (just playing demo), but have gotten the impression that it is only one Earth-map.

No, the main game is random map, but there is a earth map scenario.

Okey, so this scenario has predetermined settings which I can't change? As you say, this is not a "grand campaign" as the random map would be?

For the main game, the computer generates a map based on topological settings which you choose at the beginning of the game.

There are scenarios - mini-games - in which you normally play a version of a real-world event such as the unification of China or the run-up to WWII, though I'm not sure about the inclusion of any Australasian settings for these subgames.

I'm not sure if you have understood my question? I'm not asking about real-world events or so, I was just curious about the Earth-map, and what resources one can find in Australia.

I thought the 18 civ Earth scenario was rather grand campaign like, meaning you start at the beginning (4000 BC) and end when the time is ripe (depending on victory conditions). What worries me, is that it seems this scenario has rather limited options after all? You can't choose to play any of the 18 civs you like?

To make things even more clear: I initially didn't think this was a historical sub-game as you call it, I thought it was a scenario one could choose just as you can choose a random map. I've only played civ1 before, and I always played EARTH instead of customizing a map. Therefore, I must admit I will be very dissapointed if it turns out the Earth-map is limited to play historical events (like the Chinese unification).

Anyhow, since this is a scenario, I imagined the resources are distributed the same way everytime (it's not a random map). That's why I asked.

Cheers! :)

I have read a couple of AAR's that deals with Earth, that's why I'm a bit surprised of what you are saying here.

Ex. the AAR called "The French Struggle" by DMOC:
One of my favorite aspects of Civ 4 are the maps that come along with it. My favorite map is the Earth 18 Civ script, and I have won several games on the map, including a cultural victory by Julius Caesar (yes, Julius Caesar ) and a Space Race by Qin Shi Huang (not surprising at all). However, one of the victory conditions I have never achieved on this map is Domination (or Conquest, Time, and Diplomacy).

So that is what I am attempting to do here. I will play a game on the Earth map and shoot for a domination win.

Thread here: The French Struggle.

I'm awaiting clearifying answers...:goodjob:

In the main game, the earth map is given as a scenario. This means that you will choose one of the 18 civ, and be placed at the beginning at the correct location. The frensh struggle is played like this.

If this is not what you wish, I'm sure it's possible to worldbuilder the map, remove the civ, and save it, so that you can use it with any civ. But I never did that myself.

Well, this is exactly what I want, so I don't see any problems here. :D

Thank you, mate!

You may want to check out "Rhye's and Fall of Civilization" if you're playing the Earth Map. I found it a little more interesting, and realistic to just playing the Earth 18 Civ Map.
