Sdi?

Which video game are you sourceing this from ;)

No, China and Russia do not have stealth missiles

SDI in its current form is not designed to be effective against Russia or China, which is why it is so freaking hillarious whenever Russia gets all uppidy about it. It is designed to intercept a limited attack from medium power nations, and it can in fact do so.

Russia very well might, a stealthed cruise missile would not be tough to create, because they are relatively small and narrow. And it wouldn't be out of the question that China had one.

As for Russia's opposition to the ABM systems in Eastern Europe, I think a lot of it is the principle of it. The USA and USSR drew up agreements saying neither would develop or deploy an ABM system. I don't think it was ever fully signed, or somebody started pulling out of it. But the concept of an ABM system, while comforting to the people that have it, is tremendously destabilizing. Deploying small scale systems implies you are probably trying to build a bigger one, which is something Russia would not be pleased with.

You have to appreciate that for centuries Russia has been devastatingly invaded from the West, and preventing/defeating the next invasion is always number one on the list of priorities. You can't blame them for a little bit of paranoia.

They very well could, but since they have yet to build a stealth aircraft I doubt it. The US could have IRBM, we just don't. And there is a good reason Russia and China and the US don't have stealth nuke tiped cruise missiles or any other kind of missile; it is a destabalizing first strike weapon (unlike the currend ABM system Russia pathetically hollars about).

The US could have easily built stealth cruise missiles/SLBMS/ICBMS in the 80's but the didn't for a reason, and if the powers came to that conclusion in the paranoia of the Cold War they have no reason to reverse it now.

No it doesn't, and no rational person would think that principally because of the very reasons given here as to why a general purpose system would be impossible.

Yes I can blame them just as I can blame anyone for being ******ed. Russia has been invaded no more times than France has and they are not even half as annoying as the Russians have been lately (and that is saying a LOT). Russia's history is not unique, and it is not the reason for their whining. They are simply a has been tough guy stuck in the neighborhood bar whereing his varsity football letter jacket from five years ago yelling at all its former classmates on break from college in a vain and ultimately pathetic attempt to relive the glory days.

So, from which of the southern states do you come from?

What are you talking about?

Northrop developed a stealth missile for The Pentagon almost 20 years ago - the Russians developed a low-altitude radar evading version 10 years ago. What kind of anti-detection missiles do you think they are able to build today?

If SDI in it's current form could actually intercept a limited attack from a rouge state, that state would know this and adjust their strategy accordingly. They would deliver the payload onto US soil with other means and you can be sure it would be much, much easier and cheaper compared to the funds and labour poured into the development and construction of SDI.

The vision of superior technology keping the US safe from nuclear strikes is an illusion.
