Sea People Empire

wondering what the UU of the seamen would be? hahaha

Ummm....

How about Netherlands or the Vikings? Oh wait, got those.

Greece and Japan maybe? Nope, got them too.

Portuguese, English or Spanish maybe?? Got them too.

I'm not sure what else you want.

Gotcha. I just assumed that we were talking about realistic civs, being that this isn't a part of the forum where fantasy mod ideas are hashed over often.

Sure that can be fun and I love some of the fantasy mods myself. If you take the time to look through the modding section you will find these already exist.

The Sea People were a full blown civ around the time (roughly) of the Phoenicians. They had a lot of influence in the Med. Sea and beyond.

Last time I read up on them there wasn't much known about their cities etc but they were as significant or more than any other civ of that period.

City names would be a problem. UU would be an amped up sea fighting vessel. UB an amped up Lighthouse - brighter or something.

Anyway interesting idea but probably not enough historical info to represent them accurately - which could all change with the next archaeological dig.

Are you referring to the Minoans?

No, the Sea Peoples were a completely different race. They are probably most famous for subduing the Hittites. I believe they then settled in Israel and then the Philistines grew from there.

While the Sea Peoples sound like a bad choice to me for the regular game, I would love to play as them in Rhye's mod.:D

As far as I know, their leader would be Goliath (yeah, I know he's not from that race, but the Philistines were descended from the Sea Peoples, and I can't think of anybody else!).

On the other hand...

Olympian Empire (I can't think of a better name!)
UU: Cyber Ninja (Replaces Mech Infantry, has -4 strength but can plant a logic bomb which paralyzes units on one square.)
UB: Landfill (Recycling Center replacement, gives 5 Health instead of removing all unhealthiness from buildings)
Leaders:
Soren Johnson (Organized, Protective)
Michael Soracoe (Charismatic, Creative)
Caitlin Snaring:crazyeye: (Philosophical, Industrious)

Interesting. I saw a show on the History channel very recently (in the last 2 weeks or so) that attributed the fall of the Hittites to internal problems (regarding succession iirc) after making peace with Egypt. There was no mention of these Sea Peoples. Wiki provides some interesting info about them though, so thanks for mentioning them. I always like learning about history, and had no idea this was a real world civ. :)

Now that I'm on the same page, disregard my previous posts. :p

the Sea Peoples as we know them barely existed for one or two centuries in a very very ancient time, as far as i know. i'd prefer the Phoenicians or Hittites over them, probably the Minoans too.

Definetely true, but I would loovvvve to terrorized Rhye's world as them!

Deserted Firaxis Empire

Led by the little mermaid.

Maybe it would be possible to have a Neanderthal civ or maybe a Pirate civ (led by Henry Morgan). List anymore "crazy" ideas!

Alpha Centauri (an earlier CIV derivative) had a sea-faring civilization. This CIV could found cities in ocean tiles and squeeze hammers out of the sea (effectively).

As I recall, this civ was massively overpowered because they did not really have to compete with other civs for resources/space. The world's oceans was their protected playground which made for a very boring game...

EDIT or maybe it was Alien Crossfire???
