so if you cant trade maps, how do you see the entire map? do you just agree to open borders with everyone and just wander through their territory?

Just go to the .XML, and add the MapVisible tag (<MapVissible>true</MapVisible>)to a random tech. It will have the effect like what Satellites gave you upon researching it in Civilization IV. MapTrade, TechTrade, and MapCentering, or however they are called, do not work however... Well, maybe centering does, but the other 2 don't. If you do this, be sure to use the correct tag, for I am not 100% certain it's MapVisible etcetera.
