I haven't seen anyone talk about this, but it can give you a huge boost in any game.
You can sell your Open Borders for 50g a pop to every Civilization, assuming you have decent relations with them.
I do not believe it requires a Pact of Cooperation, but I've never had the offer turned down while having a Pact of Cooperation with that Civilization. Other times, when I have slightly weaker relations with a Civ, the cost has been 43g or sometimes not possible.
Either way, you can make a ton of gold doing this every 30 turns or so and it can help a ton in the early game when you get an influx of 300g when you research library so you can buy another worker or settler or whatever.
Goes along with selling your first luxury and stuff, but it helps a ton.
Does seem a little cheap, though... the AI certainly isn't getting any benefit from Open Borders when you have a single city and they don't even move near your zone of influence...
