Selling/disbanding Buildings? Is it possible in Civ5?

Can't find anything in the in-game pedia or the manual. Is it possible to sell/disband city buildings in Civ5. My maintenance costs are skyrocketing in my current game and I'd like to get rid of a lot of un-needed buildings.

No, you can't. Which is sad, since you have to pay upkeep on a stable late game (despite no cavalry units) or a harbor even once you have a railroad connection, or barracks and armory in a city where you aren't planning to build military units, and many other such annoyances.
