settlement plans

Yes, but only once the city reaches size 12. Then you reap the extra bonuses of the tile. This includes BG's, Gold, S & B resources, etc.

One thing that I've never been totally certain on, does settling on top of a resource grant you extra stuff in the city square?

Food bonuses - no. Commerce and shields - yes (bonus grasslands don't appear to give any advantage until size 7 because there is a 1 shields minimum regardless of size or terrain, but everything else has immediate effect).

How is Corruption a broad?

:mischief: Have I got an answer for THAT riddle...

Here's one. Why did Cyc ask the Scarecrow to play on the Eagle team?

Because he was outstanding in his field....

Here are two settlement plans (north and center):

Please comment on the spots and (more importantly the order):

So which color is the site of our next city? The Green up North? Or the Purple in the South?

South with the one in Aerie, north with the one in Tuscan Talon.

:) Those are directions, not colors. I'm looking for specific locations.

Well, I think we want the spices connected soon. That requires both up there. One on the dark blue spot (to connect the roads) and the second on the green one.

That also sounds fine, really. I figured expansion towards the south was a high priority after meeting the Brotherhood. What if the next one goes south to purple, and the two following settlers take the spots up north? Plus, south has dyes, so that's a luxury either way (though it'll take a few extra turns).
I think these three spots are definitely up next, the order is probably not a big deal.

With the next save I'll have a look how close they are and re-evaluate together with you guys.
:goodjob: May the Smiley Face of Destiny smile upon us.

I like the light green on the top one for a few reasons, its a shortcut, Red and yellow would have trouble defending because of the mountains, because the mountains are an attractive seige point for our land the light green becomes a choke point. Blue would catch up faster if left unsetled right now.

Red its coastal and has gold

I dunno about that - I think it would be worth it to go green>purple. That is, of course, assuming that we have enough workers to connects the spices fast enough.

We should come up with a border with Küche soon. Actually, map making allows us to legally exchange in-game screenshots, right? In that case, that is another plus of researching it. If we can determine a settling border, it would put way less pressure on founding sites such as purple.

I think the settler for the green spot will only be a few turns behind, and we'll want to wait for the road anyways.

Absolutely!!! Failure to agree on a border with our ally pretty much lost us the civ 4 MTDG 2, as you have probably noticed if you have been lurking there, Calis. It doesn't have to happen right away, but when we're settling the frontier it will be important to at least communicate with our allies about that sort of thing, instead of accidentally provoking them by violating spheres of influence that can be negotiated. No point in wrecking our alliance over a corrupt jungle town.
