Settlers & oceans

Just a quick, noobish question. How can I colonize other continents? In other words how can my settler cross the ocean?

load them on a boat and sail to desired land mass. move them on to the boat the same way you would to any land tile, this will load them. sail the boat to land mass, and unload.
