Hi all!

who wants to participate in this SG?

World size: large
Barbs: raging
land mass: archipelago with 80% water
climate, temperature and age: arid, cool, 3 billion

french with 7 random rivals
difficulty: regent

domination DISABLED

i think 4-5 people will be a good team :)

EDIT:

our team is complete! players are:

Lemming
Rain
Harleqin
joshnsnaz
Jersey Joe

in that order...everyone plays 20 turns :)

Great start :goodjob:

Get the mystery hut with the settler, build your city,
rivers with lot's of cows.

How did you get the "C" by the cattle?
My games doesn't do that.

I have not tried a succession game before but i'd be happy to give it a go (especially since the French are one of my fav civs). Thing to keep in mind about young worlds is u are going to have very clustered resources (especially luxuries). :egypt:

@TheWatcher: the "C" at the cattle is from a graphical mod, that changes the graphics of the resources...

@Harleqin:

the tile with the hut is NOT at the coast...i just updated the screenshot with the grid turned ON, you see the tile is completely seperated from the coast...i think the settler can found the city right where he is :)

however im still waiting for a few more players :)

you mean moving the settler straight north, just left of the goody hut?

I see it. I still feel that moving one so you are on both river and coast is the best move as it will also allow shipconstruction. With all that water we need it.

True, but with four cows we would need a population of 4 anyway before being able to utilise them. Even though it will hurt our production early on it would give us more hills for later and the cows could then be claimed by a second city if there is enough land down there to settle. It is all a question of preferences. As you go first it is your choice. :) If you are unsure then let's wait and see what others might recommend :)

There are pros and cons. At 1st i agreed with lemming. On an archipelago map you are going to have a zillion cities on the sea so harbours are not going to be an issue. On the negative side you lose the cows but remember you wont have a harbour in your capital so you will lose those 2 food from the sea squares which probably offsets the cows. Further you will be peeling settlers off your cap for a while so you wont be using all those cows anyway. It also leaves that cow open for a second city if its well placed so as not to over lap much with the cap.

Also consider that the map is 80% water which means that getting the Lighthouse is almost essential. The capital will be a production powerhouse with all those hills, thus we should be able to get it. Before moving you should rightclick on the square though to make absolutely certain that it is on the river. If you move that is ;)

hehe, we didnt even start the game and are already debating what are the does and donts :D

however, i finally have to agree with you that the tile at the coast is the ideal position...i just confirmed that its a river tile and we can utilize 2 cows and the hills AND can build the lighthouse (i almost forgot that :))

so we have still 2 cows for another city in the south, that should give us a very good start i think :)

so where are the other players or shall we start with just the 3 of us?

This should be very interesting to watch;)
Tempting to play, but only have access from work.
No way to get game home.

Good bet
Capital by hills / cows (irragated) is a wonder city.
2nd city to cows is a great source of settlers / workers.

you can download resources.pcx here.

put it into to your civ3\art\ directory (backup the old file first!)

@TheWatcher:

sorry, but i removed you from the players list...no offense meant, but i suppose you will have very limited time to play, especially on weekends, so i think its better we have players who can play on a regular basis...

i hope you understand :o
