You're technically up next, Charlemagne, with TheOverseer coming after that (according to the last roster I saw, that is!).

Victory status is still in the mid-1600s, IIRC, but that should drop a bit as ToE, Mil Academy, US, and Hoover come in.

If it's any consolation, this game is a breeze compared to Rat42. The turns flow by like water vs. 2 hours per turn. I love CCM, but BOY is it time-consuming!

Pretty much any 250x250 approx is going to take a lot of time. CCM maps are all one size (big) and you get the large spaces from lack of settlers.

Very sorry for the long delay, I keep forgetting.
    Log:
    Spoiler :
    Turn 0:
Everything looks good. I think this is the first time I've played where we haven't been at war with anyone on the other continent. Genghis Khan looks ridiculous in a top hat.

IBT: Musket near Umfolozi fends off two knignts, ACav near Athens fends off
a rifle and longbow, both redlined. Mongols drop off keshiks near Marathon.
    Polution strikes Constantinople:mad:.

    Turn 1:
Zimbabwe Library -> cannon, Salamanca and Isandhlwana cav-> cav.
Capture Marathon with an elite ACav.
Hoplite outside Umfolozi redlines 2 cavs before going down. Reshuffle some defenders there.
Clear that pollution. Misclick a stack of 12 workers in Zululand. Oops.
Not a single cannon hits Athens.

IBT: Kill a redlined knight in Umfalozi.

    Turn 2:
    Barcelona cav->cav. Ibabango worker-> worker.
I hit 2 rifles in Athens this time. Real assault begins in one turn. Ship the modern units out of Santander Island (2 cav and a cannon).

IBT: Lose a musket to a longbow near Thermopylae.

    Turn 3:
Constantinople finishes US, MA in one turn. Toledo cav->cav, Santiago rax->rax,
    Barbaropolis cav->cav.
    Siege of Athens:
Cannons are 4/6 this time! They have 3 vet rifles and at least 2 regular rifles. Justinian's army takes 10 damage to kill a regular rifle. I lose one cavalry and redline the rest to do moderate damage to the defenders. With more reinforcements scrounged from around the empire, Athens should fall next turn.

IBT: Greeks retreat a cavalry with a rifle.

    Turn 4:
Corporation, MA in. Start on refining, as it will take 7 turns, and ToE will take 8.
Santander cannon->cannon. Intombe, Salamanca cav->cav. Assault on Athens barely fails, though I only lose one cavalry (the rest are redlined). I retreat the wounded units from last turn's assault.

IBT: The Greeks attack an MDI outside Thermopylae with a rifle and lose.

    Turn 5:
Umfolozi worker -> worker. I reinforce the mountain next to Athens with Acavs, a musket and cavs so I can protect the cannons and withdraw the (failed) assault force. Give Russia electricity for Nationalism, because that's a fair deal.

IBT: Greeks kill the musket and MDI defending the retreating cav stack with rifles.

    Turn 6:.
Murcia, Barcelona cav-> rifle. Return the now healed first wave attackers to the mountain and kill the Greek rifles that attacked. Move some more cannons that way, protected by the army. Knock the elite rifle in Athens to 2 HP, telling me I can attack next turn.

    IBT: Nothing.

Turn 7: Barabaropolis Rifle->Rifle, Salamanca cav->cav. I draft another rifle in Barbaropolis since the food box is ((almost) full and it's at size 12. This time all of the cannons miss, but it turns out the elite rifle was the last defender in Athens. I lose one cavalry and redline another, but the city, including Sun Tzu's art of War, is finally ours. Start on a worker. The remainder of the stack takes Corinth, losing one cavalry. The newly healed second wave attackers begin crossing the mountains towards Argos, covered by a rifle. Begin railroads near Athens and a road to Corinth.

    IBT: Nothing.

Turn 8: Seville court-> aqueduct. Consolidate troops near Athens.

    IBT: Pollution strikes Constantinople.

Turn 9: Vitoria library -> aqueduct. Athens and Salamanca riot, WW starting to set in.
    Rail to Athens complete.

    IBT: Pollution in Salamanca.

Turn 10: Madrid cav-> cav, Barcelona rifle-> rifle, Bapedi court-> aqueduct.
Take Argos, no casualties. Retreat the wounded, replace them with fresh units (Wounded are in Barbaropolis).
Switch Salamanca to market to prevent riots, clean up pollution. Send the stack that took Athens and Corinth (which includes cannons) to Sparta.

Things for the next player to decide:
-Refining is in next turn, you will then have to select the free tech to receive the following turn from ToE (turn research off next turn).
-Our army isn't much use against rifles, though it still has uses in mopup operations, it might be better to disband it for a stock exchange. It's in Constantinople now, but if you want to continue using it in the field, you should send it towards Sparta.
-The workers outside Constantinople, Salamanca and Corinth are all in a mess due to the pollution I hurried to clean and the road/rail to Corinth I rushed (I also misclicked some near Corinth). Sorry about that.

I wouldn't disband that army, it can be a valuable "pacifier" in a newly captured city, and it can help us toward the pentagon.

Good point. I'm not used to using an army like that, with the usual flip risk.

Alright, 69 turns to go, not counting new cultural buildings! :goodjob:

What techs should we take for ToE? I'm really tempted to take the Electronics Slingshot (take Atomic Theory and Electronics). What does everyone else think?

Electronics slingshot should be best, those are the priciest IA techs and lead to a wonder.

That is a very impressive stack of beakers.

As for leaving Greece alive, I don't think the game will last long enough for us to get to the next era.
