SGOTM 06 - Misfits

Judging only from the logs, it looks good.

5 cities razed, not that many units lost :goodjob:


On the other hand (I can't access the save, as I'm at work :mischief:), why did you build that many Knights (13)?
And we don't have any Stables, have we? Why not build Grens instead?

Two reasons... One, they get to the front fast. Speed really is of the essence right now. I also sent a couple ships on a "two turn landing" to catch up and make big stacks. I'm betting some of the units coming out of the east won't ever make it to the front as it is.

Second, the two tile move allows them to leave the stack, whack the enemy one tile away, and get back in formation. A few lost units were due to my desire to kill off a wounded camel, but the price was the killing unit often got picked off himself.

Since Cy and Sally are sending troops out to attack us, you'll probably enjoy having a half dozen of those speedy guys in each stack! That's what I hope, anyway... I tried to either build them way out east (fast travel) or in a city where there was a one or two turn difference in production.

Was this an error? If it is, tell me. I learn new stuff every day. Like a) the GG units can split up, and b) the GG has to be attached to the particular unit to get the super medic upgrade. :blush:
 
Hmmm... You have two fat stacks of troops. The division to the north has been harassed by camels. They have a serious back-up just east of them, too.

There is a small squad that just took a city SW of the main attack force. The frigates are either at the island or nearby. I was contemplating using the squad to take out the island cities. There is one galleon, but it might not be enough. The closest 2nd ship will be down by the last Hanny island, and there are troops there as well.

Two grennies await pick-up from Hanny Island North, too.

Many troops on our continent are on auto headed to the pick-up points. The southern route is complete, too. In fact, the hill that was slowing us down has workers on it, it should have a road next turn.

The medics should be back with their units by now... what a SNAFU that turned out to be. Sorry guys, my fault. :(

I can't think of anything else... my head was pounding last night when I played. Be thankful if this bug doesn't make it over to Europe... :yuck:

Other than that... take no prisoners! :aargh: :ar15: :run:
 
Comments on the save:

- Wow lots of UNhappy faces around... count on my :whipped: to help with that!

- There is +3 MP in Carthage, but our HE city (masttown) is having happiness problems???

- We have units healing inside enemy teritory :( or just outside (just waiting for a counter attack?)

- Units healing without the benifit of (one of) the medics?

Ahem, why are they waiting for pick-up? What about razing that Ragnar city, a bit N on that SAME island??? Depending on the number of defenders, of course ... :confused:



Except that, it looks quite good. I would really like to see what awaits us in the fog E of Cyrus ... we can see some land tiles without culture, but I fear there are still some 2-3 cities waiting for our units there :(
If you could spend a ship to scout that out, could come in helpful ... maybe one of the frigates?

I've been whipping them fairly regularly! The medic just isn't "back" yet from his star-crossed meeting with Eugene of Savoy. I think Pasargadae was the last city I took. I didn't move them out the next turn...

I missed a city?! Really? I knew I wasn't at my best, but I know I'm better than that. No excuses, though. In that case, they'll probably need a treb dropped off... It should still be razed well before the finish date.

I'll bet you a Euro that Nam loves those knights by the end of his turn! The couple I had were so convenient.

Hey now, I think with the exchange rates, it's about $40 here! :p

It's not so much that it's a "horse unit" actually, it a "two move unit". So it can slaughter a wounded enemy unit and get back in formation. So you aren't trading units...

So first I was away, then was lucky and now I am a sleeper?

It may be tricky for me to do the save since I am busy for the rest of the week but I will wait for namila to finish his turn before I give a definite answer.
 
The save

The upload log is attached I did quite a bit of fighting.... killing HUGE stacks in cities... at minimal losses.

I captured/razed 2 of Ragnars cities, killing him.
Sacked another 3 cities to banish Cyrus to his two island rotting cities, which have been bombarded and are ready for the taking.

Imageshack seems to be down, so no images... sorry...

The low down of the current situation:
1 Smalish but nice stack about ready to take mecca (couple of knights are close too) but still needs bombing
1 Nice stack 1 turn away from Bagdad
1 Nice stack (tho a bit battered from some Cat attacks) 1 turn from Fustat
1 Nice stack 2 turns from Najran
1 HUGE stack which just razed Medina that needs healing for 2-3 turns and start marching to the next city
1 Big enough stack (CR3 gren + C3 Gren + 2 knights + CR3 Treb) about to take the 3 tile Island city of Cyrus (Sardis) defended by CG LB, LB and a C1 CR1 Pike
Tarsus (the one tile island) has a simular garison, so maybe we want to split some of the units of that HUGE stack to help with the sacking of Tarsus...

So roughly 3 turns in Saladin should be down to just 3 cities, 2 on the mainland and the one island city.
For this purpose there are 2 galleons en-route towards that island but with nearly nothing loaded yet. they should pick up some of the remaining forces of the Fustat assault force.
It will take the Galleons another 5 turns to reach Saladins island city of Yamama another turn (atleast) to take it.
Giving us not much time to get to Basra (the final continental city) to raze that too.

Cyrus should be dead inside of 5 turns... With Saladin following not much later.

Game won in ~6, 7 or 8 turns I would say

Saladin's continental cities (except Basra), as well as Cyrus cities should have fallen in about 4 turns ...

Leaves Basra and Yamama for a bit later ...
