Yeah, settle in place, silver in our BFC :woohoo: this allows us early cash.
My 2 cents. No Animals, so no need for AH before BW.
Agr -> BW. Then our workers will have lots to do.....

Oh, sorry for the repitition, but can you run the Asset Checker app and post the results.

Yeah I also went :woohoo: when I saw that. Also this simplifies our teching like you mentioned. Agr -> BW then we'll see what our recon reveals. I'll sent that warrior due W to hit the coast then start doing an 8-10 tile radius sweep heading N

Should I also be running this? I didn't get any issues/popups once I installed the proper version of Buffy and set the executables to run as admin and in WinXP SP2 mode.

I downloaded the assets checker, and the FX file (this one by accident). I had 33 errors on BtS mostly the shaders folder, so I copied the FX folder into the shaders folder as instructed.
    I still have two errors:
    BTS: Assets\Python\CvAltRoot.py
    BTS: PublicMaps\SmartMap.py
with extra file on the bot of them. I am wondering should I move or delete the corresponding files.

No, sorry about that  It is for IO and Brian. I added it again to this post as the previous post is at the bottom of Page 6. I didn't want it to get lost.

Actually looking at the save above there could be a resource beside the Northern corn, it's a suspicially open grassland in the middle of forests. It could be an AH animal or metal that is now just outside the BFC. Well if so city 2 can pick it up.

Oh yeah I'm also guessing in my above post that Vanilla and Warlords errors are irrelevant.

Just move them to somewhere else, don't delete them.

Thanks will move them onto a USB, and re-run the BOTM.

I am still getting the problem, even though I've now downloaded the two HOF mods for Vanilla and Warlords. I will migrate the BUFFY mod back from my documents to the program file, see if that works.

Hahaha, at least you're keeping at what I'm perceiving to be a light-hearted manner, considering the annoying nature of this issue. :D

And good eye on that vacant tile in the forest. Let's hope for horses (so we can still build warriors yet have a speedy effective barb pacifier). Also could potentially sets us up a close to home 2nd city to keep our costs down. Of course it actually has to be a resource there.

It's alive I tell you! It's ALIVE, MY BEAUTIFUL CREATION IS ALIVE!!!!!!!

What I did was download the asset checker app from where Neil posted it, fixed the problems with BtS by downloading the FX folder in the same place, and unzipping it to the C:\Program Files\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword\Shaders file. I also downloaded the HOF mods for Vanilla and Warlords from here, and moved back the BUFFY mod to C:\Program Files\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword\Mods.

It worked them. Thanks Neil and Justice, I was getting worried I'd have to pull out of the game.

Well done for persisting and trying everything. I know I wanted to throw my PC out of the window when I was having issues with Win7...

I personally think 25 is OK. This will give you enough time to build a worker, explore, research 1-2 techs and not much else.

T2 – found Dehli, worker in 18, tech Agr.
    T3 – Meet Zara's scout from E, wow he's close.
    T4-12 – Nothing...
    T13 – Buddhism FIDL
    T14 – Nothing
T15 – Agr in, next is BW. Hinduism FIDL.

    Post game report:
I really think the SGOTM put a nice little early decision for people to make. ZY is very close, 6 tiles ish since his scout took 3 turns to make contact with our outside vision, so I would say 9-11 tiles away is his capital, somewhere east. We are also given BOTH stone and marble at what seemingly is our own corner of this landmass. Both are reasonably not that far away.

So to REX and block, or to not and settle early marble and/or stone. Hard to say since I chose to go W with my warrior scouting and I have no clue where ZY is exactly. If that warrior does survive the lion encounter, he should go SE and make contact with ZY. We have enough land for the moment that if wechose to block by going due N of Dehli, we would have easily 8 cities at least, with ample amounts of food. At any rate, I choose REX and establish borders.

Also of note: 2 happy resources, thankfully one will come online relatively soon if we tech Wheel after BW. I'm really happy that I wouldn't cause a waste worker turns in the next set. BW in 11 and guessing Wheel around 12t: 2 t for current farm 1t to move to second corn, 6t for that farm, 1t to move to silver, 6t(?) to mine. No worker turns wasted and while waiting for Wheel we can chop for the settler. Just found out it's 149 H for a settler on epic

The land is very interesting, and looks likes it has been heavily modified.

The best land is all West, but we have an AI very close to us, almost certainly to the East. Zara is creative, so he will pop borders fast.
I don't think we should block, as this will cost us in terms of production (unless those hidden squares near the blue dot have something nice in them).

So, more exploration is needed, before any decisions can be made with any clarity.

More importantly, where is the copper. I would bet everything to say it is in our BFC, maybe even under our capital. Because Zara is so close, an Axe rush is certainly on the cards, if we can get copper easily. I am sure this is why we have the condition to have 4 warriors, to make the axe rush less appealing. All in all, it looks like it is a very balanced map, with many different options....

But mind you, the 4 warriors & 4 GP only counts as 1 condition, so I bet nearly all the teams do not satisfy it....

    Important
We aren't creative, so any city we found will not pop its borders until we have something to build culture. This will probably be a looooong time away.
So, city 2 will need to have goodies in its 8 sq radius if it is to be any good. So I am thinking 1 NW of where FGJ has put his GP farm.
Same for city 3, I am thinking we should settle it on the marble.

    Any thoughts?

    Bugger, no errors for BtS.

Can you start BtS, load BUFFY, then start a new game with the "Lock Modified Assets" option checked. Does this work??

Can you load the latest BOTM save?

....I am quickly running out of ideas.....

Well, I don't want to sound like I'm confirming preconceived biases. But anyway this situation makes a push for culture look mighty powerful. Thoughts:

-I don't like trying to outsettle, or attack Zara. When it seems like the mapmakers were nasty enough to make settling our capital into a trap/interesting choice (though I hope we can find a way to work those two SE silvers, and the deer are fine anyway. I'd actually settle a city that can reach the deer + Southern fish later, but see discussion below on my thoughts on dot map).
But trying to attack Zara counts against us heavily/makes it less feasible to fight anyone later (I really would not want to abandon trying to achieve all goals. I don't think that's what I'd want to do right now).

-Getting the stone/marble on the other hand sounds great. Again I like marble more - quicker oracle and then several awesome wonders (especially for philo leader) like Great Library, Parthenon, Sistine Chapel for our specialists. I think we can work our timing to get as many scientists and then artists as needed, don't see any major problems.

-Religion wise, if Zara doesn't get an early one we're really golden converting him to Confucian or something and making him our, well, slave doesn't sound so good let's just say making him irrationally AI-loyal to us. Again, military could be soley focused on finding the resources we have to find/conquer overseas, and it's not like staying at peace/not killing Zara will really hurt when we have so much land to expand too.

    As for settling;

Depending on horse/copper/iron revealed we can adjust, but I would:
-move red GP farm northwest by one; chopping forests for infrastructure much easier and it still doesn't need the extra fish. Diminishing returns and all, and anyway lake tiles give 3 food too with lighthouse. Souther deer+fish+lakes also a ton of future GPP.
-settle marble first, which means yellow city closer to marble. Depending on resources revealed, merge southern yellow + grey into one stone/FP city
-blue city looks fine, or if further east there is a great site. Zara should be well enough blocked anyway, and always chopping a wonder or something (one like HG which isn't that necessary for culture/GPP city but useful empire wide) keeps enough culture out of our hair.

Anyway promising start, I'm neither in a hurry nor asking you all to delay forever for my thoughts, just giving some input.
