SGOTM 13 - Ivan

I finally finished my set. Built us up to 6 archers, attacked and captured los angeles from america at the cost of 2 archers. Kyoto was going to starve and we were in -4 gpt from unit costs so I built a settler and put it on the grassland between our existing towns, I set it on wealth and made the citizen a scientist. I didn't know if we wanted to keep it so I didn't start any improvements.

I didn't have more than 5 gold, as I was going max research. I will provide a better turn log next time. No one wanted to trade anything.

Got it at 560 AD. Analysis:

1. Kyoto could be an 11-turn 2xArcher+Settler factory and still leave the BG to Tokyo for three of these turns. To get there, I plan to disband a Worker and replace it with one from Osaka.

Will all be able to operate it if I provide a detailed plan turn for turn?

2. I still would have preferred to have Tokyo on Marsden Island, but there you are. With Harbors in the other two cities, Tokyo should become productive.

3. We have three (!) Galleys, but can't sail further than Marsden Island. Suicide scouting seems improductive at the time, so no more Galleys for a while! All three Galleys are stacked, and not spread out to form a ship chain.

Can all operate a ship chain?

4. The Worker on the homeland is sleeping. I'll put him to work on Marsden Island.

5. We can get approximately 12 gold and two or three contacts for our World Map. No one will trade us any Territory Map in return, though.

Should we sell out our World Map?

6. An Embassy with Spain costs 88 gold, which we can collect in 5 turns. Self-research of Iron Working will take 6 turns. I'd tend to take the safe road and wait with the Embassy.

Have not seen sav yet, but your suggestions are OK. We may use Ship chain to transfer troops faster and attack of Clivlend with ships may help.
Contacts and Money foe WM is OK, our goal is to set embassy (in Spain, I think) and get some thechs for MA. Worker may come to Marsden Land.

I did not mean that. I think we need IW ASAP. After we get it we may Borrow money and make embassy. Or, If we see war of Egypt or Spain for sure...

11 _670 AD Horseman hurt by Longbowman near Kansas City. Kill
Longbowman with Archer, which becomes Elite.

12 _680 AD Russia has been destroyed by the Ottomans! The Dutch
complete many Wonders.

13 _690 AD Portugal declares war after we reject their
ultimatum. War Happiness. America will now settle for less than a city
in a peace deal, but they also move in a new Caravel to Kansas City.

1) Why we research Chvalry? Do we want GA
2) Any idea about Dot map at Marsden land? Will we relocate Cities?
3) When make Peace with America?
4) We lost reputation. How we are going to cath up?

here is my proposal of DM. I propose replace American Cities to better location to use fish and Whales.

We don't. I've only spent about three turns of a Scientist, which we needed anyway in LA.

All techs are already researched, we've just have to collect them somehow. Of course, Chivalry we don't need for the spaceship. But I was unsure how difficult it would be to take Marsden Island from the Americans.

You are free to switch, of course. We don't have much military possibilities before Astronomy.

Don't know. Forgot that we are Japan.

Any idea about Dot map at Marsden land? Will we relocate Cities?

I think we should. We must build our nearest-future capacity on Marsden Island cities. It's still a very small island, so we must optimize city placement.

Unfortunately I can't see any dots on the map.

When make Peace with America?

When conditions are favourable. What do they demand now? We're in Monarchy, so no real hurry. Could we get something from America for peace in the end? Could they threaten us through troop landings? Basically, we've gotten what we wanted.

We lost reputation. How we are going to cath up?

Sorry about that. Maybe too high a price for Monotheism, Feudalism and Literature?

I guess we'll have to beat the techs out of someone? We also have to monitor the weak AIs every turn for trade opportunities.

I think at current situation we have to build Libs, swich to Republic and trade for Tech at last turn. It is most efficient way.
 
Who is up?

I suspect that going for Astronomy might be better than Chivalry. Do know where the GLib is? It may make sense to get chivalry, build some samurai, find the glib and land a force to take it.

Of course, if it's a long way away, then it doesn't.
