SGOTM 16 - Maple Sporks

I'm sorry I don't have the time and skills to make a reliable test game this far into the game.

It would be great if it included the best guess for AI opponents, founded religions, correct hemisphere type, number of land-tiles in the map, coastal/non-coastal starts etc...

I will try to share my time to update the test save. but can't now. maybe this afternown, maybe tomorow.

I agree that testing things is the priority now. I'll see what I can do later today, but no promises.

Main things to test: at what date can we feasibly get both Oracle & GLH done and where can we best settle the second city.

I'm wondering about Hardcore Psycho Stomp (masonry(Gwall)>HbR>kill kill kill).

 That option also crossed my mind I must admit. Pros and cons?

I'm wondering about settling the PH 1N of sheep with 3 nice GHs for a good prod city, while leaving fish for incense city fully dedicated to commerce.

The cons I can see is that we need Brennus to build us a shrine before we stomp him, and that Ramses, even though he's no Mansa, still can be quite a good techer to trade with.

Why the GW in the hypothetical stomping scenario?

I like that proposition. 1N of sheep for GLH (3 forests to chop) and the other city will be an über-commerce city with all those floodplains and the incense.

a beginning of test map with the known world mapped.

It is my first map ever, there might be mistake and I still don't know how to simulaute advance in time. I just put paris at size 3 and the settler build but that's all.

Still need to deal with the IAs and eventualy to advance them to turn 40.

well it is to be finished :p

brenus and ramses are in the map, somewhere ^^

Gwall in psychostomp is to prevent barbs interfering so that we can focus 100% on attack. Also a Gspy becomes useful in this scenario as a superscout to sniff out enemy metals, check on garrisons etc with complete immunity.

edit: while picking up a free shrine is tempting the easiest way to dominate a game is to get as big as you can as fast as you can.

Can't open it now at work, but good start! I believe the way people make these is to build the start, and then play the game until the current point, and then correct any small discrepancies. I think it'll be good if we have 2 test games(yours and Sengirs? maybe Norvin?), so we can see different wonder dates as the play out.

With our initial score screen and demographics, and with the opponents that are now known, can we venture an educated guess at our other opponents? Even if we can exclude a couple of them it could make the test games more accurate perhaps.

I'll gladly volunteer to get the test map situated as best as I can tonight. What civs should we include? (obviously Brennus & Ramesses) About how far away should I place them? If there are any other IMPORTANT items that we should include please let me know.

A)
2 AI's with the Wheel (Ramesses)
3 AI's with Mining
1 AI with nothing (Brennus)

or B)
3 AI's with the Wheel (Ramesses)
1 AI with mining
2 AI's with nothing (Brennus)

+ at least 1 more civ with Myst.

Besides that we have 1 or 2 Cha civs (Brennus is one of them)

EDIT: We need to meet at least one more civ to even decide which option we have to use, so no exclusions yet (besides Mansa and Hammi(

Should have access to my civ computer tomorrow as well so I'll try to do some testing.

Didn't have time for testing yesterday, will try again tonight.

Sorry it took me an extra day to complete the test save. It's pretty hard to replicate exactly what took place but it's close. The land should be accurate (though when I swapped Ramesses and Brennus in for the original AI's that were generated you'll see that Rammy is just south of the jungle gems) We also haven't bumped into Brennus yet so our EP's are on Rammy. I am 1 turn off on AH so the save is 1 turn later than the original. I think I worked the 4:hammers: plains hill a turn too soon. I have my autosaves so if you guys think it's important enough I'll go back and try to fix it. Also the warrior near the gems is mor ewounded than the real one and a couple of tiles off.

Thanks Norvin :goodjob:.

I'm working on Gwall Harush (aka psychostomp).

Great Work. Although I made contact with Brennus fairly quickly, the lack of knowing an AI will have an influence on our research rate.

I played very sloppily forward, mainly to see wonder dates. They're all very late in this test game, EXCEPT GLH!
SH 2160bc, t46
GW 1080bc, t73
GLH 625bc, t90
Pyr 550bc, t90 (built by us)
Oracle 425bc, t98

On a similar note: on a rather random game with the same settings, with Ramses and Brennus, but nothing worldbuildered, also the wonders were falling very late... Would be good to get more tests on this, as not to get a false sense of security.

My first conclusion: if GLH is indeed the most important wonder (and I believe it might be), then we need to prioritise this, since that was the only one that fell early/normal time wise...

Another remark: we need to tune our research towards what we want to build in the cities. For a long time I had nothing else to build but warriors, workers and settlers, which got a bit boring (and useless...)

Wow, that's one late Oracle...

I gave up on trying to create a testsave, but I will do some random games to get some more wonder dates.
After that I'll see whether I can get some wonderspamming done in the testsave.

Maybe early Writing? I know it's a bit risky not to go straight for the Priesthood line but I think cheap Libraries, which give us a better conversion rate of :science:/:gold: and the ability to run scientist specialists is worth it.
