SGOTM 22 - Anti-TSR

Have we figured in the re-settling of Brennusland into our plan? Won't that cause a bit of a delay getting to Camulo by land? Or do we expect to knock out new, low-culture cities with a few Cuirs (no 1-movers) and then move the main army thru the newly neutral tiles.

I'm currently planning with ~20 Cuirs for our main Brennus army that could take out any new Brennus cities. I could also pillage some roads to slow his settling parties down. I haven't spotted any thus far.

Correct.

We should also have some 11+ units join the Vienne attack from the north.

We only have 2 accuracy cannons for Carthage. That means we may need 2 turns to bombard it to 0%. That would mean they'd land near Vienne on t222. Unless... I swap 3 of the cannons with 2 or 3 fresh ones from Bovino and Rome.
Thinking out loud, what I'm seeing is 1) the Vienne area is loaded with about 18 non-mounted units and 2) attacking Vienne on DoW+5 or DoW+6 gives Brennus that much more time to upgrade those units to rifles.

Our 10 galleys could land as many as 20 1-mvmt units at Camulo-2N on T219. They can attack from Camulo-NE on DoW+2 and attack Vienne on DoW+4. I estimate we'll need at most 5 accuracy cannons plus about 10 suicide cannons to knock 18 rifles to 20% or 40%. Delaying the DoW to T219 gives us more time to build enough cannons.

I wouldn't skimp on Brennus. That's one war we don't want to take any chances on.

Would we kill off Gilga before the Brennus war then? Or go for Zara/Sal?

Do we want to give Brennus 10 turns to re-settle cities?

15 cannons for Vienne should be doable with the DoW t216 plan.

Good question. Gilga's a PITA with all that WW and 2 offshore cities.
Or go for Zara/Sal?
WOrks better with WW but spreads our units thin.

Seems like he'll have that anyway more or less if settlers are within 3t of finishing on DoW(T216).

That's perfect to go with 5 CR grens.

A lot of loose ends we've left ourselves, with AI fragments everywhere, but that's how we kind of had to do it. I think your plan might be the best way forward: 1) stone-age Hanni while 2) continuing to beat down on Brennus. That should be our main focus until we're secure in that. Then we'll do our best to clean up the rest asap.

Play on!!!

Now that we won't sign a peace treaty with Brennus, we have to decide how to deal with Zara/Sal. Do we want declare on Zara on t211 or t212 and fight Hanni, Brennus and Sal at the same time? I don't think we have the units to take down Sal quickly, without slowing down our war with Hanni. The cuirs near Damascus would probably have to remain in in the Damascus area instead of joining the Hanni war.
Probably better to focus on Darius asap and then take out Zara/Sal and Gil toward the end. I guess postpone Zara for now but remain vigilant because Sal is still in WarPrep mode.

With our BrEast units teleporting towards Mecca, we can only attack Tolosa with 14 units (5 cannons, 3 grens, 6 cuirs). 3 Cuirs could either remain in the Mecca area for a war against Sal, or teleport towards Nibru to join the Vienne attack.
That's enough for Tolosa, right? Then Verlamion and Bibrachte will need more support. That dovetails with your Camulo-first plan, diverting some support off to Verlamion after Camulo. We should plan to end with Bibrachte because that puts units closer to Gil.

Green Light. I don't see any big dangers. Hanni should be 10t from Rifling even if left untouched, right? So our war should make it impossible for him to ever get there.

Okay, I'll follow the original plan then. Playing in 15 min.

Should be plenty for Tolosa. The 3 CR grens should have winning odds against the top rifles.
The plan is Tolosa t217, then Verlamion t220 or t221 with the Tolosa units and some cuirs from our main army.

Continuing from this post

t210
- Switch Hanni to Caste. Spy survives.
- Bulb Optics.
- CF Brennus
- We adopt Nationhood+Slavery
- whip caravel

t211
- Hannibal captures Tarsus. Tarsus is on a hill and now only defended by knights. Should be easy to raze when we DoW Hanni. No, he has too many (injured) units in Sal's culture near Khurasan.
- Gilga founds Isin near the BrEast cows. Our units teleport to Mecca's gems as planned.
- Darius gets MT. Doesn't matter. He has no iron or Gunpowder.
- Wine to Brennus for 8 gpt
- Dye to Gilga for 4 gpt
- 3 rifles in Vienne still, 1 Gue2 rifle in Bibracte.
- Utica has 3 defenders, Carthage is defended by 2 Grens, 1 musket, 1 lb, 1 cat
- We are still (barely) making money at 0% slider, since our units are mostly within our culture. That should change next turn.

t212
- our Brennus spy gets caught :(
- :eek::eek::eek:
Spoiler :

We can kill off Zara this turn!!!
He has 0% city defense in Medina (last revolt turn)

:banana::dance::banana:

- We catch a spy in Bovino
- 1 gren and the cat in Carthage leave the city, but not the peninsula. That's one less unit with fortification bonus.
- Hanni's Great Merchant walks towards Brennus. We can kill him this turn or next turn, after we declare war.
- Medina razed without losses. Zara is dead. Perfect timing. I was running out of cities to draft from.

Save uploaded.

- Not much more to report this turn. We spot a Hannibal stack north of Khurasan that could attack Persepolis or Pasargarde in a few turns. Although with only 4 trebs, it will probably take him forever to bombard castle walls.
- Some more units move into our territory. Some workers are disbanded. We're no longer losing money.

t213
- Bovino's barracks destroyed by enemy spies.
- another spy caught near Damascus
- HaGift finishes a LB
- Carthage is defended by 1 grens, 2 muskets, 2 LBs
- DoW Hanni
- kill GM
- Raze Sicca. 2 cuirs die with ~70% odds.
- Raze Sardis. No losses.
- Raze Tarsus. No losses.
- We can look into Tolosa. 1 rifle, 3 LBs, 1 pike.
- Hanni's stack seems to be headed towards Pasargarde.
- Brennus settled Isurium NE of Tolosa (fur river). Defended by 2 rifles, 1 cat, 1 WE. At least it's on flat land.
- Utica is defended by LB, pike, sw. It has built a settler.

t214
- Our Hanni spy gets caught.
- HaGift revolts. The LB is at half health. Do we have any more use for it? This would be a good opportunity to raze it.
- We raze Kerkouane. 5 cuirs die.
- We kill a pike+settler between Kerkouane and Utica.
- We land near Carthage. Only 3 defenders this turn, but I expect some more to return.
- Brennus re-settling the fur spot means that our cannons from Lali can't be dropped off at Tolosa-N. They can attack from Tolosa-NE, but that means that the Verlamion attack might be delayed by 1t. Still only 1 rifle in Tolosa.
- Brennus re-settled the Durno site. I move a cuir to look into the city. It is empty. I'd love to declare war now and raze it, but it is too early. Our Tolosa galleys would be threatened by a caravel, and I don't think we can afford to lose any units there.
- Raze HaGift.

t215
- Gilga is teching RP (9)
- Hanni builds a caravel in Carthage. 3 defenders. Should be doable, even with my luck.
- Carthage razed. We lose 3 Cuirs.
- Utica razed. No losses.

Stopping for the night. We need to plan out the Darius war. He has an awful lot of units, even in his northern cities.

How much de we care that the Brennus/Eridu spy got caught? I could build a new spy in Nibru.

Absolutely kill Zara. If Sal sends a settler there, kill it.

If we're building a caravel in Nibru, use it to ferry another spy to Shuru. Otherwise send it to Eridu.
