SGOTM 22 - Anti-TSR

Playing...

t209
- dye to Darius for 10 gpt
- pig to Hanni for 11 gpt
- Damascus gets a military academy
- We kill Brennus' mace between Nibru and Vienne.
- 14 Cuirs threaten Durno. Brennus won't offer a city, as expected.
- We have less than 30 turns to go. Time to chop some fur/deer camps.
- EP on Gilga (0% slider)
- 70% research slider, only Gondar and HC are building research
- So much unit micro... Time to press end of turn.

t210
- We have reached the Industrial Era (Steel)
- Gilga is 3 turns from finishing Demo
- Hanni and Darius pop Great Merchants. More Grenadier upgrades for Hanni.
- Rome gives birth to a Great Scientist. Bulb Optics?
- Gilga is about to settle the cow tile where our BrEast units were supposed to heal in the no DoP plan.
- Durno has 1 CG1 rifle, Camu has 1 rifle, Vienne has 3 rifles and a bunch of other units.

Durno attack:
- C3Pinch cuir attacks first and loses without scratching the rifle (7% odds for zero damage )
- Second C3Pinch cuir retreats, rifle at half health
- rifle=dead
- The rest is easy cleanup against LB, xbow, GW at 73%, 80%, 90% odds. Ha! We lose all 3 battles.
- We win all 99% battles.
- Durno razed.
- We capture 1+2 workers.

- Cuir moves to threaten Vienne and spots another 8 unit Brennus stack (mostly WEs and pikes) on a hill in Gilgaland. We'll need a ton of units for Vienne...
- Another Cuir moves to threaten Camu.
- Upgrade 5 trebs to cannons.

Stopping for the night.

spy can't get to an island city without a caravel which can go in w/o OB.
Right. Should I send him to Eridu then? Or keep him around Bibracte?
Brennus spy sails to Gilga's closest island city.[/COLOR]

Not true. We can see now (T209) that the galley can move to Shuru-3W1S and drop the spy on Shuru-2W.

The difference in Influence Civics is:
Eridu: 588eps
Shuru: 402
Umma: 504

I don't know the unhappiness penalty for Emancipation, but I assume it's hefty for Rome and other larger cities. 402*50% might be cheap by comparison. Even more important, if it enables 1 unit per turn in Rome, that's crucial.

How much of a priority are Zara/Sal in a no DoP scenario? (BrEast units attack Tolosa instead of Baghdad) I don't think we'd have the units in place to take Sal out quickly.
The point is to not overlap WW pts if possible. T211 we'll have none active with Brennus so it's a great opportunity to battle Zara/Sal. Sal doesn't necessarily have to be super fast.

In the No DoP scenario, if you're planning to build cannons in the Aksum/MEcca area for BrEast, then probably best to wait on Sal.

In addition to the gpt trades (short-lived), you might also consider running a merchant in cities with forums until we have enough cash to prevent a STRIKE. Or even building wealth somewhere.

We'd have to DoW Gilga to move the galley into Gilga's territory. We would get a popup "Do you really want to declare war?" before the galley can move in.

The UI shows that our cuirs can move into Hanni's territory, but that also does not mean that we can do so without declaring war.

No. No. No. Our galley does NOT have to move into Gil's territory. Look at the map. (WT obviously didn't look before posting.)

Some Details
1. Ferry Brennus spy to Shuruppak asap to revolt Gil out of Emanicipation when the time comes. T212 boards empty galley at Shuruppak-4S2W, T213 lands at Shuru-2W. This does not delay T214 landing at Carthage-1W.
Unless Shuru expands its borders, the above will work.

Won't plot culture update before our galleys can reach the tile? That's what I had assumed.
Okay, I see what you're saying. SHuru is already at 100:culture: but for some reason it's not covering Shuru-3W1S.

Okay, I get it. That tile isn't covered because we jsut captured Nemet. Crap. Okay. Forget it. I was thinking SHuru wasn't at 100c even though it obviously is.

In SG10 we took advantage of the temporarily lost culture by settling a crucial city. Takes a lot of foresight to see such stuff. It wasn't even a city we captured, but one lost to another AI. We just pounced.

- see if Brennus will give us a city for DoP while we threaten one of his cities (Tolosa)
I'm pretty sure we need to threaten with a unit on land, in case you were thinking with a unit on a galley. Not certain about this, but I'm pretty sure I tested this a long time ago.

I guess bulbing Optics is a decent use of a GS, unless we want to save it for Astro and steal Optics.

No, we can also steal Astro. FOrget that. Bulb Optics is my vote unless someone thinks of something better.

Plus, Astro adds 4K to our power for Camulo. :wallbash:
