This thread gives you and the Staff somewhere to post about non-spoiler issues relating to the game. It is a way of communicating to the rest of the players outside your team, and with the staff, about matters of general interest that affect your team or everyone. You can post about bugs, rule clarifications, problems with the roster etc., but please do not divulge information about your team's progress. Please subscribe to this thread so that you are kept up to date with new information as the game proceeds. If you need to raise specific issues concerning only your team, then please contact Noble Zarkon and AlanH by PM.

The team lists are at the end of this post.

The details of the game setup are in the pre-game announcement thread.

Versions
This game will be played in Civilization IV Beyond the Sword, version 3.19, using the BUFFY-3.19.005 HoF mod.

Buffy 005 prevents you building Settlers in OCC but allows any World Buildered units to settle so is essential for this game.

Timetable
The Team Discussion Threads will open in this forum as soon as we know all the team names.

The starting saves for each team will be made available here a few days later.

You will upload each new save at the end of your set of turns here, and the deadline for your final upload will be September 30th, 2020.

Steam
If you play BtS using Steam, then your BtS will auto-update to a new version which is incompatible with those playing the DVD version. You will therefore need to install the Steam "beta" version to play this game. You can check whether your copy of BtS is compatible by downloading a SGOTM 21 starting save. If it loads OK in your copy of BtS, then you are ready to play.

Rules and Procedures
Please visit the Civ4 SGOTM reference thread to check out the rules and procedures to ensure that you are adequately prepared for this game.

Note, the usual GOTM restrictions apply: no replaying, no liberating cities to a civ you are at war with (except in peace deal), no subsidizing resource trades with AI, no goto mapping or flying camera, only 1 tech from Oracle/Liberalism
All saved game files uploaded to the server are parsed through software that extracts and archives data about your save, including reload count for each turn set.

Spoiler information will absolutely NOT be tolerated in this thread

Yaaaay! Thank you AlanH, Noble Zarkon, Deckhand and all participants. (Anyone else?)

Have fun everyone!

The start files will be available here on 29th April. Final saves to be submitted by 30th September.

Have fun everyone. Be nice to each other, and stay safe.

Can we ask map related questions here? (most other threads are locked).
I wonder how far we are supposed to scout with some settlers, settling decisions are final here and cannot be repaired..so without more info games might be very different.

Can we ask map related questions here?
You can ask but not sure I can say anything more than was in the announcement:-

Map: Ice Age, heavily edited
Mapsize: Standard
Options: No Barbarians

I wonder how far we are supposed to scout with some settlers
That sounds more like a tactical decision to be discussed with your team.

Feel free to PM AlanH and myself if there's something troubling you.

Some teams have noticed a discrepancy between the screenshots in the original announcement and the latest one. The latest one is the official one, it is entirely up to you what you make of the differences and how it influences your strategy.

Are we allowed additional wonders/national wonders on top of the game requirements? So could the priest city build Stonehenge and then add mids too. Assuming we still had 7 cities meeting all requirements?

Are we allowed additional wonders/national wonders on top of the game requirements?
Great wonders, no.

From the pre-game announcement:-

You may construct other buildings in each city, as well as the requirements noted above, provided you only build exactly 6 Great Wonders and found exactly 1 Corporation.

From the pre-game announcement

For clarity a shrine meets this requirement.

Can we infer from that that a shrine counts as a World Wonder, and therefore, if you build a shrine, you are not allowed to build another wonder that generates prophets?

If it isn't your turn to play, are you still permitted to open the latest save from your team to look at (obviously, without make any moves)?

That is correct.

Yes.

For culture I assume OCC still requires 3 cities with 50k culture. Not sure if that is reduced for OCC games.

Would broadcast tower by Eiffel tower count as a built bc tower?
