    1350 AD (Turn 0): Look around, like the idea of an Alliance or MPP with the Arabs, but they’re not interested, do want to have some kind of deal going though so sign Trade Embargoes against Indians and Egyptians. I’m puzzled as to whether we did or didn’t mobilise, I thought it was allowed this game? Just to confirm, we’re not mobilised. Move another Cossack to Mohacs. Look at MM in Rheims – OK, move labourer on hill to one by the river for more commerce. Press button.

    IBT: Keltoi kill a Cossack by Mohacs, losing a Knight and Redlining an Axeman

    1355 AD (Turn 1): Salamanca: Cossack > Cossack; Rheims: Worker > Worker (MM); resistance ends in Camoludum (sp?); Tonawanda: Market > Cossack; Maunch Chunk: Cossack > Market; Satsuma: Cossack > Market; Centralia flips to the Arabs!!!! :( ; Dijon: Worker > Worker; capture Mohacs losing one Vet Cossack and redlining the Knight Army; take Tlaxcala with 1 Cossack; kill one Pike in Tenochtitlan, but the other Cossacks would have to attack across the river, so move them onto the iron hill instead; move Cossacks towards Augustodurum.

    IBT: England and America sign Peace; Indian Galleon appears near our coast; Aztec Longbow approaches

    1360 AD (Turn 2): Quell a resistor in Mohacs; Grand River: Rifle > Cossack; Lugdunum: Worker > Worker; capture Tenocticlan (and the Great Library) for the loss of 1 Cossack; only 1 Conscript Rifle in Augustadorum, then Rifles; an e-mail arrives and my PC decides it has run out of resources, close Civ Assist etc, but will probably have to reboot soon; raze Nagasaki and bring our Cossacks home.

    IBT: Indians drop a Cavalry near Kyoto; Zulu attack Richborough killing a Pike and Rifle, but not taking it.

    1365 AD (Turn 3): Quell another resistor; Rheims: Worker > Worker; Marseille: Cossack > Cossack; Verulamium: Worker > Worker; kill a Longbow coming from Nara promoting our Cossack to Elite – Nara is defended by Spears; move Cossacks to Tlateloco (Spear defends) and Texcoco (another Spear); fail to kill either of the 2 defenders in Richborough for the loss of 2 Cossacks and redlining of 2 more; move Cossack Army in to Richborough; drop research (elec still in 3) and up lux to keep Paris working.

    IBT: Arabs and India sign a Trade Embargo against us, I presume this cancels ours?; Mongols want Peace; Zulu finish off the Rifle in Richborough leaving a Spear, English Archer joins in as well; Keltoi also want peace, but we should get Richborough;

    1370 AD (Turn 4): Kahnawake: Rifle > rifle; take Richborough with Cossack Army, Nara and Tlateloco with Cossacks; capture a Worker near Texcoco, will attack that next turn; Workers work.

    IBT: Vikings and India sign a Trade Embargo against us; Zulu and Keltoi sigh Peace; Arabs drop a Settler/Musket on our landing point by Moscow;

    1375 AD (Turn 5): Kyoto: Market > Cossack; Rheims: Worker > Worker; Lugdunum: worker > worker; Allegheny: Rifle > rifle; 2 Resistors in Richborough quelled; Palace expands; fail to take Texcoco, all the Cossacks retreat; Workers Work; notice the Arabs Embargo with the Indians against us didn’t cancel their’s with us against the Indians. Hmmm, we’re going to need somebody else to fight, but regroup for a few turns first.

    IBT: Arabs disband their Settler by Moscow landing site.

    1380 AD (Turn 6): Complete Electricity, start Replaceable Parts; Niagara Falls: Cossack > Cossack; Tokyo: Rifle > Market; Tours: Cossack > Rifle; Oil Springs: Cossack > Market; Chartres: Cossack > Cossack; resistors quelled in several places; capture Texcoco. We now have all the Aztec, Iroquois and Japanese cities on the main continent. Have to stop for the night.

    Next day: move a few troops towards England – we need more roads/rail for better troop movement here; Zulu have a stack on the tile SSW of Entremont that would allow our Cossacks to reach Hastings in 1.

    IBT: Spain and America sign Peace; Arabs and Aztecs sign Trade Embargo against us;

    1385 AD (Turn 7): Resistance ends in Tenochticlan; Moscow: Factory > Universal Suffrage (ToE prebuild); Lyons: Uni > Cossack; Rheims: Worker > Worker; Camulodumum: Worker > Worker; more resisters quelled; Workers rail and troops move towards England.

    IBT: Arabs run about

    1390 AD (Turn 8): Orleans: Rifle > Library; Verulamiun: Worker > Worker; Tyendanga: Rifle > Library; kill Indian Pike approaching Moscow; Workers rail, next turn England?

    IBT: Indian and England sign MPP; Arabs and Iroquois sign a Trade Embargo against us; Spanish settle Santander;

    1395 AD (Turn 9): Paris: Factory > Market; Grand River: Cossack > Cossack; Teotihaucan: Worker > Library; Rheims: Worker > Worker; Lugdunum: Worker > Worker; Marseille: Cossack > Factory; Tonawanda: Cossack > Cossack; kill escort for Indian Settler near Santander gaing 2 more Workers; Zulu have moved their troops to allow us to reach Hastings on the same turn the road is complete; cancel alliance against the Aztecs and declare war on England; Hastings is defended by Pikes, attack with Elites and with the second Lenin appears :D ; Lenin forms an Army; capture Hastings with 3rd Elite; move troops on Canterbury, York and Coventry; more railing.

    IBT: Zulu want to renew our Peace Treaty, I debate whether we want to commit to 20 turns, but decide to renew it as it will allow us to deal with the English then Arabs; our people want to build the Pentagon; one English Longbow appears but does not attack.

    1400 AD (Turn 10): Osaka: Rifle > Rifle; Kagoshima riots – I moved a Cossack out and obviously didn’t check the result; Dijon; Worker > Worker; take Canterbury, York and Coventry for no loss, kill English Longbow; realise I can reach London, move in – Spearmen :D, attack, lose 1 Cossack defeating 4 Spearmen but capture London; can now reach Warwick; capture Warwick; can not find quite enough Workers to be able to rail in London so I can take Nottingham this turn, so stop there to give the next player a little room to move.

    Treasury: 664 gold, +24 gpt, Replaceable Parts due in 4, Science 80%, Lux 10%

    Post-turn: There are Workers unused by Richborough, some unused Cossacks in various towns and used Cossacks are scattered about the countryside. Apart from London with the 4 Spears, the English towns have contained 3 Pikes, only the one Longbow appeared last turn and was not able to counterattack. I leave it to the next player to choose where to put the used Cossacks and whether or not to move in on Nottingham this turn, with more railing it would be reachable this turn, only a few more Workers needed to do this. Arabs next?

    With artillery coming up, the only question is how long we will have to wait for marines. Some of Arab cities should help that side of the equation :)

    Got it.

    Switch Moscow to a coal plant and start a few factories. Stretch the rail system and move a decent amount of Cossacks into position at Coventry.

    1405 AD (1)
    Take Coventry plus an additional knight and longbow. Bring rails and reinforcements to Tabriz.

    IBT- An Arab musket marches by Moscow.

    1410 AD (2)
    We take Tabriz from England, banishing them to the other continent.

    I demand that the Arabs remove their musketman, triggering war. We trade Steam Power plus a couple luxuries to Zululand for an alliance against Arabia (hopefully they can help us finish them off).

    We destroy 3 cavalry in the open and take Avignon, Grenoble, and Centralia with minimal losses.

    IBT- The Arabs launch a stiff counterattack taking Caugnawana and nearly taking Avignon. About 10 Arab units remain in our territory.

    1415 AD (3)
    Take Jedda and strongly garrison the city. We also wipe out all the Arab cavalry, longbowmen and Cataphracts in our extended territory.

    IBT- The Arab counterattack is weaker and we only lose 1 rifleman and 1 cossack.

    We also learn Replacable Parts and start Corporation. 6 cannon are upgraded to artillery through the domestic advisor.

    1420 AD (4)
    Riflemen with remaining movement are upgraded to infantry.
    We attack Mekkah with almost every available cossack, and take the city. Losses are high including a cossack army.
    The new artillery move on to Madinah.

    IBT- The Arabs don't attack with many units.

    1425 AD (5)
    We bombard and take Madinah, attempt to take Damascus as well but we run out of healthy cossacks.

    IBT- Jeddah flips to the Arabs taking out an infantry

    1430 AD (6)
    Retake Jeddah and capture Damascus with moderate losses. Move cossacks on to Baghdad and artillery to Riyadh

    1435 AD (7)
    Capture Baghdad, then bombard Riyadh, but can't reach it with cossacks.

    IBT- Madinah flips to the Arabs, and we lose a cossack.

    1440 AD (8)
    Retake Madinah, capture the new Arab capital at Diryah, and capture Riyadh. Also raze the Arab city on the central continent.

    At this point, the Zulu are still plodding through our territory at slow speed, and will take to long to help us finish off Arabia so I sign both a ROP + embargo vs. Arabia. When the Arabs are destroyed, both deals will end automatically.

    1445 AD (9)
    Capture Kurasan, Snagha, Dahran, Amiens, and Najran. The Arab core is gone, and the remaining cities are defended by muskets or spearmen.

    IBT- Diryah flips to the Arabs but we don't lose any units.

    1450 AD (10)
    Recapture Diryah, then take Alemanistan, Kufah, St Louis, Sirplebidah, and Caughnawanga.

    I talk to the Arabs and they are close to giving all their cities except Anjar (the new capital). After bombarding Anjar pillaging all the tiles around the city, killing 1 spearman, and making peace with both Egypt and the Iroquois the Arabs agree to give all their cities for peace (including 2 single tile islands).

    This breaks our alliance with Zululand, but our alliance reputation was stretched anyway (it cost a full tech + luxuries to buy the alliance in the first place). Hopefully none of our cities will flip in the next two turns and Zululand will finish the Arabs ending the ROP agreement.

    Nice to see the Arabs fold so quickly, from the top Civ to 1 city in 10 turns! And the Zulu are nicely strung out to be picked off once the Arabs are finished. With any luck we'll be able to get them to declare on us by demanding they leave. I too hope nothing flips in the next couple of turns, out of interest here's the next turn flip probabilities from MapStat:

    There are a lot more in the list as you can see from the slider, but I would guess the 3 non Arab ones in the list will become the highest once the Arab threat is removed.

    PS: I will be away from Tuesday to Thursday evening next week, with no internet access.

    0: 1450AD: look at the save and see that the Arabs will capture Muscat and/or Cherbourg on the mountain island giving them another city far away from the Arabs; we have to abandon them before they are captured, because our ships won't arrive in time with defenders.
    Workers work, go thru cities for some mm, hit return.

    IBT 2 Indian cavalry approach Muscat; England wants peace: no; Arabs ask us friendly to leave ot declare war; we leave.

    1: 1455AD: America, Zulu, India know medicine; refining now in 5 at 90%

    IBT Indians capture Muscat; Lincoln wants to trade maps: no; incompetent Zulu fail to conquer Anjar

    2: 1460 more working and troop healing; block way back for Zulu troops over our rails

    IBT Viking, India sign ma vs. Keltoi, Vikings declare; Egypt and England sign embargo against us;
    Arabs kill final spear in Anjar and Arabs are history

    3: 1465: we ask them Zulu to leave and they declare war :) ; the killing starts and Great Leader Zukhov appears building another army
    we capture Entremont, Ulanbataar, Tugela, Almarikh, Hlobane (loosing 4! cavs to a rifle but finally getting gems); try to secure our position; workers work; use wounded cavs to kill resistance in former Arab cities
    abandon Cherbourg before it is captured by Indian cavalry

    IBT Spain and India sign ma against us :(
    Zulu cav appears "from nowhere" and captures Moh-cs

    4: 1470AD: resistance in Makkah ends; we raze Pamplona to teach Spain a lesson; recapture Moh-cs, kill some more Zulu (most of our troops need healing), Ivan the Terrible appears and we save him for the next turn
    workers work, troops heal, we try to cover our open spaces

    IBT Egypt and India sign embargo against us; embargo between Vikings and India ends; we quell a lot of resistors

    5: 1475AD: Ivan hurries factory in Lyon; we kill the last "northern" Zulu and capture Anjar
    establish embassy in Thebes, but no deal possible; give Vikings wine for 19g and they turn polite (at least Ragnar loves us)

    6: 1480AD: we learn refining and start steel due in 5; our people want to build the Iron Works
    we raze Indian Ciudad de la Luna and Spanish Casa del Bamr pido
    we capture Intombe and Ulundi; next now is Zimbabwe - we move our artillery SOD in position

    IBT rampaging Vikings destroy Keltoi :D

    7: 1485AD: we give Zimbabwe a good shelling and our armies attack, followed by cavs. Peter the Great appears and hurries factory in Kyoto; we capture Zimbabwe loosing (only) 2 cavalry.
    We raze Vitoria, kill 2 defenders plus a Spanish missionary (legendary unit :) ).

    8: 1490AD: we quell the last of the Arab resistors; capture Isandhlwana and Zulu loose their saltpeter, next Bapedi and Mpondo; now our troops are exhausted and need rest.
    We abandon Mansura to prevent capturing by Spanish troops.

    9: 1495AD: capture Xinjian and Tsingtao.
    Stalin appears while we defend Moscow and builds an army. We raze Santander.

    10: 1500AD: we capture Canton and sign ROP with Vikings to get to Chengdu.

    Thoughts on what to do next:
    Obviously, we want to finish the Zulu. Hopefully, after capturing Chengdu and Nanking, Shaka will give us the 1-tile-island Ngome for peace. Then we break the treaty and finish him, after trading for any techs first he was not willing to give with the peace.
    I think next we should move towards the other continent. Out ships are already in Riyadh.
    I hesitated to donate steam to the Vikings in the vain hope to buy their alliance against the Mongols and Iroquois with their islands. ????

    There is still something to do this turn: attend to the Indian rifle north of Moscow, move some troops, maybe some mm, but my time is running our; sorry.

    I'm sorry, but if Demiurge is not able to play next, I won't be able to either. I don't have time this evening (still got to pack) and I'm away from tomorrow until late Thursday so will not be able to play until Friday. Please feel free to skip me, that is unless nobody else has time either, in which case I'll play when I get back. I hate it when work interrupts Civving.

    Edit: Got it - Playing now

    1500 AD(Turn 0): Cossack kills Indian Rifle by Moscow; move a few more Cossacks to Chengdu and Nanking; some MM (it was a lot quicker when we only had 1 city); press button.

    1525 AD(Turn 5): Salamanca: Worker > Worker; Rheims, Oil Springs, Marseille, Damascus, Centralia: Cossack > Cossack; Tau-Tau: Library > Cossack; raze Punjab; capture Kolipur and Bombay – should have landed by Delhi insteads; redline Rifle in Ngome (there’s also an Impi there); reload Galleons; workers work.

    IBT: Iroquois and India sign a Trade Embargo against us; Iroquois and England sign a Trade Embargo against us; Egypt and Japan do the same; the Iroquois/America Trade Embargo against us ends;

    1530 AD(Turn 6): Salamanca, Texcoco, Kagoshima: Worker > Worker; Paris, Madinah, Grand River, Lyons, Chartres: Cossack > Cossack; Moscow: Infantry > Cossack; Bombay does not flip (Army was stuck there); Tours: Ironclad > Ironclad; Cattarugus: Infantry > Ironclad; resistance in Kolaphur & Mpondo ends; Warwick: Library > Harbour; capture Delhi, using some of the New troops (can only get half all the way across); hurry Harbour in Kolhapur; remember to kill Zulu Longbow this turn; Workers work.

    IBT: Lose a Frigate to an Indian Frigate; Indian Frigate, Ironclad and Galley approach our Galleons; Japan wants peace; pollution strikes Moscow;

    1535 AD(Turn 7): Complete Combustion, start Mass Production (in 5), switch Ironclads to Destroyers; Kyoto: Cossack > Infantry; Salamanca: Worker > Worker; Osaka: Courthouse > Infantry; Niagara Falls, Tokyo, Allegheny, Marseille, Rouen, Grenoble: Cossack > Cossack; Kolhapur: Harbour > Library; Riyadh: Market > Harbour; Avignon: Library > Market; everybody is now happy with the Ivory from Bombay; capture Chenghu – Zulu still will not give Ngome – no point in waiting now, I should have razed Chenghu not captured it, that might have made the difference, move on to Beijing; it’s full of Rifles, but we have enough Cossacks now to take it; Capture Seattle, raze New Calcutta; Workers work.

    IBT: Indian Ironclad promotes our Ironclad to Elite; Indians attack Delhi with a Cavalry killing an Elite Cossack (1 Vet remains); American/Aztec Trade Embargo ends.

    1540 AD(Turn 8): Salamanca, Kagoshima: Worker > Worker; Paris: Cossack > Destroyer; Makkah, Moscow, Orleans, Lyons, Rheims, Chartres, Jeddah: Cossack > Cossack; York: Market > Cossack; Mpondo: Worker > Library; raze Lahore; sink Russian Galley and Frigate;

    IBT: Spanish Missionaries approach Delhi; Delhi flips losing 2 Cossacks; Indians land 4 Cavs on Forbidden Palace Continent

    1545 AD(Turn 9): Salamanca: Worker > Worker; Ulundi: Library > Cossack; Marseille, Damascus, Tonawanda, Mauch Chunk, Satsuma: Cossack > Cossack; unload 4 transports of mostly Cossacks; retake Delhi; capture Madras; capture Bangalore – capitol is now Chittagong on our home continent; capture Calcutta; move troops for Karachi; Workers work.

    IBT: Indians bombard; Vikings move Settler in by Beijing;

    1550 AD(Turn 10): Kyoto: Infantry > Infantry; Salamanca: Worker > Worker; Moscow, Grand River, Lyons, Diryana, Chartres: Cossack > Cossack; Tours: Destroyer > Destroyer; resistance ends in Diryana; capture Karachi; bombard Indian Frigates; Workers work.

    Treasury: 513 gold + 133 gpt, Mass Production in 2 (70%)

    Post-turn: The Indians have cities left on our Moscow island, the mountainous island, the small island in the SW, and Bengal with 3 Cossack landed next to it. The transports are unmoved, as are many of the Cossacks and Arty, although I think I’ve moved all the Workers. Next player should get Amphibious Warfare and be able to start towards the island cities.

    The cities fell in large numbers, so I only kept a summary log to keep up the pace.

    Early
    Declare war on America. We suffer moderate losses from their riflemen, but they are rapidly reduced to a few scattered cities. The Vikings sign an MPP with Zululand causing them to declare war on us.

    Middle
    After the main part of America is ours, Spain quickly folds and is reduced to 0 cities (settler on a boat). Likewise, the Vikings are no match for our mainland forces and are eroded down to island settlements. A few flips occur, but they are not enough to slow our progress, and our small eastern force eliminates Japan from the game. After we learn Amphibious Warfare, research is shut off to pay for transport rushing, and we launch expeditions to knock out the 1 tile civs.

    Late
    Declare war on Egypt and steadilly work our way south through mountainous terrain. In the process, we capture Magellan's Voyage, speeding our tranports further. The marines begin to do their work, and we eliminate the Aztecs, Iroquois, Vikings, Zululand, Mongols from the game. Spain also lands their boat settler, and they are eliminated as well.

    Post-Turn
    Units are in position to finish off both America (marines in a transport) and India next turn. India actually has 3 undefended cities, probably because our conquests made them go bankrupt. I suspect we can finish the game in 3-4 turns.

    Not much left to do:

    1605AD: destroy Indians, destroy Americans, destroy Vikings

    1610AD: destroy Egypts, destroy English, hit <shift> <return>

    1615AD: Conquest Victory announced: Firaxis 2721, Jason 5468

    Here is the pre-final save , in case you want to watch the replay.

    Thanks everybody for an enjoyable game, even if obviously there were better tactics pursued by other teams leading to a faster victory.

    Therefor, I will continue the quest for an SGOTM award with SGOTM 6. You also?

    I have updated your team list (a bit late I know).

    I hope that the team will play the next game, but perhaps we should have a discussion about how to assign a reliable player. I think your team deserves a stable base, and therefore if you have any suggestions as to who you would like in the team then I would be open to suggestions. Just PM me when you have an idea.

    Well the beginning was slow, but the end was certainly quick - I think we made the most of our UU. Paris flipping when it did really slowed us up, but I think even if that hadn't happened we would have been behind the top teams. Our tactic to get a foothold on the other continent was a good one, and our cities were certainly productive as a result, but we were just too slow in doing it. I can see that the Northern 1st city site with the easy access to the indian continent would have been an advantage there - I'll have to look at the first spoiler and compare who started where to finish date.

    I'm also on for SGOTM 6. I know work is still not good, but this is giving me my Civ fix, so I'll keep playing. 100k Culture in Communism - I can't say I ever use Communism, tried it once just to see what it did (I was religious so could change back easily) and was appauled at what it did to my income.

    Edit: checked back over the saves and now know why we couldn't mobilise: It has nothing to do with the GOTM mod, and all to do with needing Nationalism.... We got Nationalism sometime between 1250 and 1300 AD, by which time we were well on our way, so I'm not sure how much it would have helped by then.

    Although it did drag a bit in mopup phase, this was an enjoyable game that seemed to be much tougher than I would expect for a Regent game. It looks like the key for this game was getting a productive group of cities ready quickly, either by building the FP relatively close or by jumping the palace.

    Unfortunately, I must skip SGOTM6 as the next 2 months are going to be critical at work. I hope you can find a good replacement in the meantime :).
