I've been wondering for the longest time how to accomplish this shot. I've beent rying to get a picture of all three elements in the same photograph, but...I can't figure out how it's done. So far I have gotten a silhouette and reflection, but getting a shadow out of that seems impossible. To my mind, to get a silhouette the light eneds to be behind the subject, and if it's behind the subject, how can I get a shadow out of that?

Does anybody know how?

Here's my sihouette-reflection shot.

I like the photo too. And it seems to me like having a shadow would look weird...

I like the oil derrick.

Seems pretty simple... in one corner of the foreground, have a floodlight and stand something in front of it. Voilà, a shadow. Mystery/problem solved.

I'd prefer it to be natural, rather than really artifically staged...yeah I thought about a floodlight, but thought it would be too artificial.

Nice picture
