Well, i'm playing on an archipelago map, so many of my cities are situated on the "other side of the worl". you guess that corruption is the favorite activity of my people :wallbash: . well i suppose you now the questoin: how the f :nuke: ck you get off of this bloody corruption? i buld courthouses but it still remains solid and eats up to 70% of my production and taxes. i've moved a capital to the "center" i have a forbidden palace built and my governement is a democracy.

any help is very appreciated.

It is very unfortunate that communism suffers from so much corruption. If corruption was not only communal, but reduced, there would be an effective government for colonialism.

Communism is still very viable if you intend on building a forbidden palace in a far away location, allowing you to build it much more quickly that you otherwise would be able to.

Keep one palace (original or forbidden) on your home island and put the other in the middle of a large island or cluster of cities. It is impossible to keep some cities from being totally corrupt, you have to choose which are the most important ones to save.

The best way to build a far-away palace is with a great leader. Communism is slow and very very very painful. You could also try getting courthouse/police station/WLTKD in an almost totally corrupt city, this should allow it to build a palace in a decent amount of time. It may take a few palace builds to reach the other end of the empire this way.

did you have a good road system extending from your capitol and / or palaces?

i'm sure however that that your problem with corruption is deriving from your chosen form of governemnt. === communism

i just recommend that you be open to other forms of governemnt. You will lose some cities to corrutpion. your leadership is needed to decide which ones yeield the best results.

Whenver my corruption gets too high i switch governemtns for a bit then switch back. That helps alot for me.

i am anxious to hear your comments.

Wargasm he stated he was using a democracy :)

Anyway, to the original poster, I find to increase production it is very helpful to try and inspire WLTK days in cities with 6+ pop...
When I have cities suffering near 100% corrpution rates, I often get the population up to 6+ asap and hook them up with luxuries, build a temple, entertainers, etc and with a little patience those cities producing only 1 shield can be at least a little more productive than they were before :)

This wont solve commerce problems but it will help production. To help with science/tax rates it has been said to use scientists and taxmen since they are tax free. I have yet to get either to contribute a reasonable amount to my empire, however.

Best way to deal with corruption is to limit the number of cities in your empire. If you do that, courthouses, police stations and We-Love-the-King-Day all help. A well centered Palace and Forbidden Palace also help. Many players use a leader to move the Palace later in the game.

If you have over twice the optimal number of cities (see the editor) for a given map size and difficulty, there is little you can do (other than adjust the levels in the editor).

Since I usually played on a huge map, 400-500 cities is the normal size of my empire. I use the following formula for controlling corruption:

1. Placing the palace and the forbidden palace in good location (you know where).

2. Build a market for all cities (this would help keep all my citizens 100% happy). Everyday in my kingdom is the We-Love-the-Leader-Day.:)

3. For all cities that produce at least 2 shields, I will build/rush the courthouse, and the police station.

4. For all cities that produce 1 shield, don't build anything there. I would still be making a lot of money or research from these corrupted cities by turning the citizens into specialists such as taxmen or scientists.
