Ship enslavement

I've just started a new game as England and noticed that the English UU - the Man O' War - has the enslavement ability, as do Privateers (or did I just dream this last night...?)

Has anyone enslaved a ship yet?

Does the enslaved ship change to, for example, a Privateer, or does it remain the type of ship it was before enslavement?

I guess it's theoretically possible to enslave a battleship ? :mischief:

You could of cours, search the general Civ3 forum for this kind of information.

From what I understand of reading about it; Its usefulness is directly proportional to the amount of attention that this game pays to naval combat, in combination with the window of time that the Man O' War is usefull.

In other words, it blows like a vacuum cleaner in 99.78% of the games.

EDIT:
To answer your queston, yes it becomes a privateer, and yes you could, like a spearman could defeat a tank.

And, it's much more social. Who wants to spend the afternoon locked away in some silly library researching. :D

Wouldn't posting the question in the more often read General forum be even more social then? ;)

My point is, its not a mac specific question. I'd argue he may have even gotten the answer faster in the general forum. :)

It would also be better in that he helps lurkers who are not brave enough to post the question themself. By posting this question in the general forum, he would reach more of them.

He may get a faster answer in the general forum. He may even get several different ones. Problem then is knowing what to believe. Praps he'd rather wait a little and get info from sources here that he knows and trusts? On the other hand, there may not be very many knowledgeable C3C players around here :hmm:.

Maybe. But since C3C for Mac has only just arrived, the subtext was Mac specific... in case it was something missed during testing ;)

Absolutely  [civ3mac]

One of the things that makes C3C for mac so great is that we mac users are now yet again a "full" member of the CFC communety, (ok, still waiting for Civ4, but still) Mac users are no longer backwarts with an old patch using old ruleset.

There is no reason to assume game mechanics differ from the PC version, So be a social guy and join the rest of CFC!

Besides, becouse the game is new to the mac, you are actually better of asking the PC players becouse they already know C3C.

And this is the last I'm going to say on this issue, do as you wish. All I wanted to say is that you'll be better of asking this type of questions in the Civ3 general forum. I trust the civ knowlege of people like vmxa above my own, and I suggest you do so aswell. (trust info from him above info from me) ;)
